you could probably get your bank to order you a box.cost is 500.00 might have trouble finding another bank to take them back unless you have an account at 2 different banks. thats what I do. later greg

Jumping on the "dropping the halves" gig for a bit. Went thru another 3 boxes and was skunked on all. So for what its worth I am estimating I found 1 40% in 12 boxes. Work bank rolls vs fed boxes for a bit. Tried my luck on a box of nickels, first roll right there on the end was a worn Buffalo. Box also produced a War Nickel. Working nickels for a bit.

I went on a little roll hunting trip last Friday. Found 20 40% in about $1300 worth of halves.

Haven't posted any results for awhile, but I really haven't had much to report. Over the past month I've searched eight $1,000 bags, and have found a total of 2 40% JFKs. Kind of a bummer, but not bad enough to keep me from continuing to hunt.

I mentioned in an earlier post that my Dad has also been searching boxes of halves, and maintaining rather detailed records of each box. He just passed his one year anniversary of halves hunting, so I thought I would share some of his statistics.
In one year, he searched a total of 511 boxes. Of these, 298 (58.3%) were skunks, and 213 had at least one keeper.
He found a total of 1348 40% JFKs, and 249 90% silver halves. The 90%'s can be broken down further:
1 1878 Seated Liberty (No S, we looked really, really hard) 1 1905 Barber 2 Commemoratives (Carver and 1980 Washington proof) 38 Walkers 72 Franklins 135 1964 JFKs
Best Boxes: He had quite a few boxes with a large number of keepers. His best box had 33 90% and 24 40%. Another box had 93 40%. The box that contained the 1878 Seated Liberty had a total of 6 90% and 71 40%.
So, I hope you found this information to be somewhat interesting. Let me know if you have any questions regarding these results, and good luck prospecting.

tkachukdude7 511 boxes is quite a lot! thats like 250 grand face of half dollars.
Nothing really to report here. Did my weekly 4 boxes and got skunked! I only need 8 more to fill a paper towel roll full.
Don't know if anyone else does that but I store my silver in the paper towel rolls. 100 fits quite nicely.

2 boxes today and 1 40%er. I'm moving to Cali this weekend for the start of my u.s. Air Force career as a 2nd Lt. Maybe I will have better luck in a new area. I'm about ready to just go out and buy junk silver. Not as much fun but things have been so dry in my area.

Tryed my first sealed box of halfs from BOA, wrapped in white String wrappers. One 68-D and one 05-D...I was not impressed. I got the $499.00 box as it was short two coins. Will have to get that fixed next time I order a box. Gonna try again as customer rolls are very hard to come by right now. On the upside, so many folks around here are asking for halfs, the banks are happy to get my dumps...
I saw the name "Cory" in blue ink on one coin in the box. Anyone on here go by that name? LOL.
