Broke down and orderd a S&S box today (my first) and bulled 2 64's and 8 40%'s out of it...alot better than my lomis skunks...Maybe Ill order another

While picking up my box of nickels I noticed a silver half in the tray. So I got a 1964 Kennedy for .50!

im curious afclassic,
when you asked for that one half, did you get any resistance from the teller? everytime I see halves in a tray and ask for them, I get: " oh, those, I'm saving those" , no, you can have those, there are mine..."
i havent gotten into it with any tellers, but almost..
i envy you.. lol.. I'm happy you got it!

No problem getting the half. The teller then said that they don't get halfs often but when they do they will save them for me. For some reason this one bank likes me. All the other banks hate selling me boxes. I have just been lucky in that since... If I see coins at the bank I always can buy them.

Sooooo finally I had a decent day with halves.
Monday - 2 separate tellers at 2 different banks handed me a 63 Ben as Change and another 68 as change.
That same day did a bag of $500 and got 20 - 40% and another 63 ben. No NIFC's or anything except that this bag had been sitting around for more than a year in the vault. 2 of 40% and the Ben are toning nicely and I have put those flips as savers (no pics).
FWIW - I also stopped ordering the 2 boxes I was doing weekly. It's just not worth the effort anymore as the last 3 weeks have been a big ZERO and NIFC's are getting trashed. My spec all along has been that my area has been stripped of silver in Halves and just a random coin or 2 floating around OR way too many folks searching around my area.
Best to all of you who are still at it. I am just going to do customer rolls as and when I can get them.

Nice silver! I searched through an entire $4 worth and found nothing except a couple new dates again... (I need to find more than just one bank to buy from... :P )

jeez I feel like I havent updated in while. wasn't much to report. went through about 8k in halves and hadn't found 1 silver! today I have two boxes and got done with the first with no silver and started on my second box and the first roll I opened there was 4 40% in it! will post later figures if I find more.
good silver finds too! keep up the good work!

Sometimes I wonder if the enormous success of this thread I started has led to much increased searching for silver and ordering of boxes.

when I first started reading this thread I too started ordering boxes... but like a lot of people, silver has pretty much dried up. with every box, 5-10 different hunter markings and ZERO silver...
with 20 different banks in my area, only $40 in customer rolls could be found, and ZERO silver..
for me at least, its cheaper to go to the coin shop or a CCF member and purchase the coins I want...
for a time, the roll hunting was funding my hobby, but now, its just funding my gas tank instead..
back to the cents for some good ole fashioned fun =D
