Hi Nobis, Detecting and correctly identifying a true doubled die is pretty tricky. In Kennedys, strike or Machine Doubling is very common because of the size of the coin---and Strike Doubling usually adds no value to a coin other than it is sometimes very visually appealing. You'll need a good 20 or 30X loupe for close examination. And while, if you're anything like me, you're praying for just a lousy junk-condition 40%! We broke our four-box hitless streak last night with a '67. Also got a '92-S. Maybe that's a sign things are starting to look up.  |

Thanks for the info Ferdy.
Just had a heartbreaking experience at my bank. I put approx. $100 of halves in the coin machine, and it signaled the bag was full. The lady came to change it, and I helped her put the bag on the cart. In plain view at the bottom (I only got a quick look) was a 1964, multiple 1965-1970 and at least 3 2010 halves. I asked to buy the whole $1000 bag and the manager refused.
I am a customer with multiple accounts, I promised not to dump the unwanted coins with them and I offered to pay a premium and she still refused. So, hopefully one of us will get what is in that bag down the road.
I have seen where people on this forum buy these bags - how do you do so?

When I return my 5 boxes to my "dump" bank every week, I have to re-roll every one of the 5000 coins (250 rolls) because they won't take them loose. Wish we had one here somewhere---- |

Nobis1, is this a TD Bank? I got refused there once when I tried to buy there coin machine bags. So I made them my dump bank for a little while. I found another bank though with a 100x better counter though so I use them. Now they give me bags to fill and I return them without having to use the machine.
Nobis1, besides a good streak I had about a month back I have had pretty terrible luck with boxes. I have been doing this for a year and my usual haul was nothing or a 68D or something. So don't feel bad, you will hit your streak!

TD Bank is from the Northeast region. Definitely in Mass, Conn, Vermont, New York. I'm not sure how far up and down they go though. They are pretty big. They have a free counter though, which isn't completely accurate and the half dollar bag only fits a 100 dollars worth.

Yeah, I guess a coin counter wouldn't do me a lot of good anyway. It would be a task to haul in 125 lbs. worth of coins---I'd have to use a canvas potato sack or something. Plus, if the machine only holds $100, I'd have to go through 25 cycles anyway--- Edited by Ferdyboy

Yea that's why I stopped using them and found a bank where I could get empty bags, fill em with 1k of halves (about 50lbs) and turn them in.

Ferdyboy - MidSouth Bank has self service coin counters. It is mostly a Lafayette area bank, though I travel enough for work that I am able to visit the branches in Houma and Baton Rouge.

TD Bank is in New Jersey also. I get "BRINKS" boxes from them. (When I feel like being depressed from finding ZIPPO from Brinks boxes!(LOL) *Although, I will admit I've found some very nice DDO's/DDR's in Cents & Quarter rolls from TD Bank lately as opposed to String & Son rolls from the other banks I go to daily.* Edited by chuckster 125
