Searched through 3 $1000 bags last week. Two were skunks, but the third contained:
16 40% JFK's
21 90% JFK's
3 Franklins
1 Walker
One of the 40%'s was a very nice 1970-D. It took a year and two months have halves hunting to find my first 1970.

So I pick up my usual order of 2 boxes of halves, and the teller I usually deal with tells me the regional manager wants them to start charging ALL customer coin orders, depending on the denomination ordered. $10 for 1 box of halves in my case. I am really hoping that tomorrow the other Harris doesn't tell me the same thing, otherwise I need to find a new bank or my roll searching is over. =[
Box 1 was a skunk, only 2 NIFC's... Kinda irritated so I'm saving the other box for tomorrow.

Do you have any BIG NAME banks by you?
Chase & TD Bank by me doesn't charge for any customer box orders.
I never heard of Harris, are they a local bank by you?
I'd also never pay to have them order coins- that's ridiculous to charge customers for that service, IMHO!
Definitely try ordering from a different bank if that's what Harris is doing.

if a bank is enacting fees in order to order coin, I think it looks like that bank is loosing business fast and might not be afloat much longer.

Completed a box earlier today, surprised by the results:
(1) 1962D Franklin
(2) 1964 JFK's (1 in high AU condition)
(2) 1967 JFK's
So with 3 90% and 2 40%, I can say I was pleasantly surprised by more 90's than 40's :D

I'm actually very surprised with the banks in my area. I've had a couple banks tell me they don't order boxes of coins for customers, which I find quite odd, what about small business? What's even stranger is I went to a different Harris Bank today to pick up my other order of 2 boxes of halves, and they said nothing about "policy changes". They asked the usual "Would you like to place an order for another 2 boxes for next week?" Not only is the law enforcement wacky in my area(another story =P), but so are the financial institutions!
Chuckster - I don't have any TD Bank's in my area, but there are some Chase Banks. I have yet to try them to order coins. But yeah, Harris is a local thing, stretching in the Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin regions. I am just confused as to why one Harris is claiming one thing, and another hasn't mentioned anything.
Anyway, I finally scored a decent lot of silver from the 3 boxes I did today. Got 3 90%'ers and 4 40%'ers! Pretty nice since I've been on a dry spell.

Deltron, The closest US Bank to me does the following to me when I try to drop of coins: 1. must be rolled 2. must have my name and phone number on it 3. I must tell them why I want to turn them in 4. the vault manager reserves the right to refuse anything (and that means lately it's everything) 5. they no longer give out wrappers, insisting that I can get them from Walmart! 6. Even though every teller knows me (heck it's a small town bank), they insist that I show them proof of my account to do anything with them) while other close local branches welcome me by name (even the branch I dump my 1/2's at). The branch did order 2 boxes of nickels for me, but then said they couldn't do it anymore cause they don't have room to store them? Every other branch of US Bank I've been to in the local 30 mile radius is always nice, polite, helpful, and accomidating. Heck the branch I get my 1/2s from lets me order a box a week, but I don't have to buy the whole box at a time. There is just no accounting for why 1 branch can have horrible customer service, while the rest don't. I just wish the one 3 blocks away wasn't the one with horrible customer service! Deltron - my old bank wanted to charge $6 per box. I changed banks to a major national bank with no problems. They happily order boxes for me for free. I agree with everyone here, don't pay.

Searched two boxes over the last two days. Found 2 90% (nice toned 64 I almost missed and a 43 Walker). I also found 3 40% Kennedys. Not terrible. Hopefully my bank ordered me two more for today.

3 box total today: Bummer as far as Silver.
2- a 1962D Franklin and a 1967 JFK.
I did find a nice pair of 1987'S P & D- MS Grade, so it wasn't that bad after all.

I have reached that elite group of finding old halves in rolls. I now know what it feels like to be most of you in this thread, ha ha  [And to see the "dirty" silver rims staring up at you.] Backstory: A little-more-than-half box ($300) came from a SunTrust branch, where the teller orders a box weekly for one of her regular customers (she took out $200 for him, and I took the rest). Funny, because it's been a while since she last saw me and she mentioned about it asking if I've been searching at all. I tell her no, and sometimes it happens for a reason. They were in white wrappers with gold lettering (Brinks?).... Dates: 46 51-S 61-D 64(2) [One is gold-plated] 64-D 66(2) [One is scratched all to heck] 67(9) 68(5) 69 1995 Basketball Commemorative 04-S Clad 05(2) 06-D Might have to get part of the next box she'll receive this upcoming week.
