Thanks Nobis. Good haul for you, too. BNA is an allusion to the Nashville airport.

Nice finds bnacoin and Nobis1! Picked up 2 Loomis boxes yesterday and was skunked on both. Thinking of possibly taking a break from halves for a while, there hasn't been much to find lately. I have 2 more Loomis boxes coming in today, so maybe I will find some silver. I will post any results later.

Are you half roll hunters finding pickings are still as good as a year or two ago, or generally much more difficult?

I keep hearing people say that silver halves seem to be "drying up." I am not seeing that at all in CWR. I wonder if there isn't just more activity on the front end by people asking for halves at banks before they ever get to Brinks/Loomis/Fed/etc. Perhaps they are still coming into the banks, but being pulled before the coins are sent off. On a per-roll basis, I bet I find 10 times as much silver from CWR than from boxes. Certainly that's not true if you find somebody else's dump, but after a while you develope a sixth sense about that. What do you think? If the CWR searchers are doing their job well, there should be little to no silver in boxes, correct?

I'm visiting in NYC and figured I would stop in a bank and see if they would order a box of halves for me while here. So I go up to the teller and tell her I want to order a box of half dollars. She goes "Oh, we don't do that but is this what you want" and picks up a Walker from her tray. With my eyes popping out of my head, I say, "Yes, give me all you have please. She gives me $14 in halves and I can't wait to see want I got. I ended up with the following: 68D-4ea, 63D-1ea, 54D-2ea, 53-1ea, 51S-1ea, 51-1ea, 46-1ea and the oldest a 1937. Only two of the halves were none silver. Talk about making my day!

so even though I didn't get to the banks today a lady bought a pack of cigarettes from the gas station I work at. She put 3 dollar bills on the counter and reached into her purse. I heard the silver and at first thought they were dollars.....instead she started stacking up half dollars. Ended up with 2 40%ers. 67 and 66 the 67 is very mirror like maybe a mint set coin?

i agree with bnacoin..
i think a lot of the silver is getting snatched before it hits the box companies... think about it... most banks need to fill a quota before it ships out.. usually $500 worth of halves. for a bank to hit that, usually almost all the time is from hunters dumps... the only way silver gets in is a teller that doesn't care, or a bank that never gets hit with somone looking for them when they ask for CRW's..
but in chucksters case, you get lucky. and I think that if you are persistent, it will pay off no matter how many hunters there are getting the CRW...

chuckster, if you dont mind me asking,
it seems you get a lot of halves everyday.. like 2k? do you get that from one bank or from multiple? and just make your run. and then when you dump, usually do you go to just one bank or multiple?
