AG,

What bank do you order bags from? I think they would be alot easier to search than boxes...

Ditto!

Same here, no offense to anyone, but that's the 1st of the 2 GOLDEN Rules.

1- "NEVER" reveal your source
2- See # 1

I will generalize and say they were Brinks from a TD Bank or String & Son wrappers etc but never say the actual location of the bank/banks involved.

Stopped by the bank today to dump some nickels and ask for halves. They didn't have any, so I stopped by a different branch about a mile away. The teller said she had 8 in her tray, so I just bought them. Out of those 8, there were 4 40% (67-69) and a 1976S 40% silver proof. It was a good day haha.

AGCoinHunter and chuckster 125, are either of you paying a fee for dumping? You know, a.k.a, the Coinstar thing? I ask only because of the volumes you do. If either of you got any insights you'd be willing to share on those arrangements, I'm kind of in need of some, as I'm considering upping my volume, again.

I pay nothing for getting rid of my dumps!

Any TD Banks by you?

TD Banks are free and they don't even require you to have an account. Only problem with them is the half dollar bags only hold $100.00 before getting full so I try to limit my dump to no more than $500.00 a pop so as not to over burden the tellers. It's worked real good so far.

My other dumps are with different branches of my Source Banks so I can't say who they are, but I do not pay for dumping with them.

I never have/will use a Coin-Star Machine and pay those outrageous fees!

I don't know what kind of volume you plan on doing, but it's been my experience that keeping it to no more than 6 boxes a week over a 2/3 day period is just about all I want to handle since I'm also doing other denominations of rolled coins.

It gets to be too much of going back and forth buying/ searching/dumping/buying again etc.

Good Luck with whatever you decide to do!

Chuck.

Wow, I really appreciate it, Chuck!

I was at a bankroll level of $2000 a couple years ago and I remember the dumps had always been the more harrowing aspect of the whole experience. I can dump free in bulk at major banks, and have never had to resort to a Coinstar machine for that, so, that is one good thing. I'm thinking of going back in this time, weekly, at the $1500-2000 level. For the past four or five months or so, we've just been picking up a couple boxes, here and there. We've been concentrating mostly on other smaller denominations.

BTW, I've walked in with $1000, before (that's, four 12-13# bags). That's really crowding the tellers, though, you're right. I'm going to keep our dumps at $500, this time around. What about how you space out your dump banks? Back then, at the $2000 level, I'd hit each one about twice a month. Heck, a guy has to give these tellers some breathing room!

I use credit unions to do my dumping. There are numerious ones around me with coin machines and I dump between $500-600 at a time on them. There is one with a free coinstar machine (which is free for customers) in which I will do $900+ at times but its slow to do. I only do $2k a week which isn't a whole lot relative to what I have seen others do. I think the key is to rotate banks around every few weeks. I have a great opportunity to dump some on the city next month as I got a traffic ticket last weekend for failing to stop at a stop sign. Cant wait to dump my halves on them!

You guys are great; thanks, AG!

I think I'm learning from you and Chuck, we've been doing it pretty much right, before. Getting back in the saddle, once again, on this big horse, is a little intimidating. That's why I thought I'd check my notes against yours.

PS: So you're going to tell the judge the truth, right, you were in a hurry to get to the bank before it closed?

Your Welcome!

* I bankroll a $1K. of my own at one time. At the end of the 2/3days I've purchased $3K in halfs using $1K.of my own money.

Boxes come in Thurs AM and Thurs PM/ or first thing Friday AM.

I start out as early as possible in the morning, so that by late afternoon I'm usually done with 4 of the boxes for day one ( Thurs) and do the same thing the next day (Fri) with the remaining 2 boxes.*

I spread the dumping out between TD bank and various branches of the source bank, thus not making myself a pain to one individual branch etc.
