im not sure if this question was asked yet, but its a sort of techincal question that I overlooked:
when you dump the halves, do you bring them back in the same box you bought it in? or do you re-roll them and bring them in separate from the box, or not box at all, just rolled coin.. recently I was asking myself this question becuase I could be saving the teller a lot of time and maybe make it easier for them. is it easier for them?> let me know what you guys do.

I use 2 coin pouches with zippers that TD bank gave me to transport rolls of other coins- each one holds $500.00 in halfs no problem and they just get dumped into the coin counting machines loose.

best day at the bank for me in half dollars today
returning a box of dimes I asked for any halves, they said they had 40 dollars worth.
I saw the one other guy who searches in my areas mark on the rolls and was disappointed
then when I got to the car I noticed 2 of the rolls didnt have the marks
I noticed the one roll was rolled loose and I could hear that beautiful clank!
Sure enough I opened it up and out came 3 1964 JFK's and a 69D
left the other one for my house
opened it up and out came 1 64, a 67 and 2 68D's
total
4 1964
1 1967
2 1968D
1 1969D
Quick question now....where is the D mint mark on the 64 coin
I have many P or so I think and no D
also I have almost 2 rolls of 40% and no 1965 anyone else having these 2 problems

The lack of 65's is normal, I usually find them in a ratio of 1:20 of all the other years. They have a lower mintage than the others... but do not carry a premium. In fact a good part of the 64's were actually minted in 65' if I am not wrong, as the mint was trying to satisfy demand for them as Kennedy had just been assassinated. That is why the mintage run of 65' is shorter than the others.
The mint mark on the 64' should be on the reverse below the left side of the eagle I believe, guys correct me if I am wrong. As for that I have found rolls of 64's but still haven't come across a D though.... perhaps b/c I am on the east coast....

On 07Sep10 I showed pictures of three rolls of Franklin's and three rolls of Walking Liberties I received at the bank. Well about 2 hours ago I went to the coin shop and sold 5 of the six rolls and here is what I bought. 1881-S Morgan  1924-S Peace  1927-D  1927-S  Also I walked away with some cash. How does everyone Think I did? |

Yinzi, I am trying to finish my Peace album and I got the halves at face value. I got the Peace dollars basically for free and I liked the way the Morgan looked so I had to have it. |

Coins1371: Beautiful 81S, especially on the face area, looks nice and clear of any major dings etc. On whether you did good or not? You were already ahead of the game! You only invested $60.00 to find the 6 rolls of halfs etc. You cashed in 5 rolls, 100 halfs of 90% silver coins @ .36169 ozt each = 36.169 ozts X $20.46 ozt-( price of N.Y Spot Silver today) = approx $740.00 You still have at least one roll valued at close to $148.00. $740.00 plus $148.00 = Approx $888.00- $60.00 = $828.00 of HOUSE MONEY! I don't know what grade the 4 coins you purchased might end up being, so it really depends on how much cash the coin dealer gave you besides your coin purchase/and grade of your 4 coins to see if you did good on the " exchange". *You might also have a valuable listed VAM with the 4 coins and/or the 81 S might grade higher than MS65. interesting information on the 1965's Americanamafia
I have 1 and a half rolls of 40's and none are 65's
I love hoarding silver but really want complete sets of the coins from circulation
almost done with the JFK's only missing like 8 through 2001
64D,65, 78D, 82D,87P, 87D, 91D, 99D, then I have nothing above 2001 except for an 06S clad proof
this is all from customer rolls, cant get boxes still

I just HAPPENED to be going to my CU this morning and I asked the teller if they had any halves. Told her my kids loved them as allowances and spending. That's not completely untrue. She had $1 in her drawer...  Then she asked if I could wait, she will check the vault to see if they had any others..  9 rolls...  2 complete rolls of 40%.  I have to go through the others to see if there are any I want to keep before handing them off to my kids. |
