there's a suntrust right by me that I've been stopping in at every monday, and for the past 4 weeks they've always had at least 1 silver jfk. seems odd that this bank, and hardly any others consistently have jfks...last week they even had 1 90 and 3 40s

Did another 2 boxes today which got me NOTHING. Only 4 NIFC's but I don't care about those got the full set already. That brings my streak of skunk boxes to 6! >.<

Searched 4 boxes today. I found 8 40%'s. Not great, but way better than last week. Getting 2 more tomorrow.
Congrats on the big find Chuckster. Got to agree with your assessment. Even though some boxes seem to come from the same batch of coins (good and bad), you never know what you will find box to box.

just did my 6th got absolutely nothing...again. has anyone here seriously considered the possibility that certain companies run the coins through a sorter to pull out the silvers?

Obla- I do not think so. I did 8 boxes last week with 1 40%, and that was a bank I had good luck at. Remember that no silver has been in halves for 40 years, and people hunt them. Tellers take silver as do folks that walk in and buy them.
As for the armored car companies, I think it is far more likely people inside see or hear the silver and pocket it. I have had numerous rolls obviously opened and coins taken from them. I suspect silver was taken, so there are likely people in these companies that hunt silver too.

Did anyone else see that TD Bank is now charging 6% for non-customers to dump coins? It looks like I will be opening an account with $25 and $400 in pennies to dump as retribution!

Yep!
Their new charges went into effect this past Monday, November 1st, 2010.
I opened up an account the same day!
No way was I going to pay them $30.00 to $60.00 per dump on the halves ,besides the other denominations that I also dump there.

you know it takes me like 30 minutes to reroll a box of halves...seems like it'd be better to just keep your money?

2 boxes yesterday 1 90% 2 40% 2 proofs 2 gold plated halfs
Got a call today from the bank I get bags from and she said that they had $200 in halves a customer dropped off, and I went to get them. Apparently someone around here unrolls the machine wraps, takes the coins out and puts them back in... so that was pretty fruitless.

Nothing worse than picking up a box with machine wrapped halves "rolled" back down. Take them to a coin counter for Gods sake!

how is that more likely? I mean, the boxes are sealed. I could see whoever's in charge of rolling them being able to tell, but aside from that...the guys in the trucks aren't carrying 500.00 in LOOSE halves.
