It is interesting that the Kennedys minted since 2002 are showing up in circulation considering that 2001 was the last year that they were circulated by the mint. Those coins must be coming into use from mint bags and rolls that originally sold at a premium. Even many of the 2001s were recently sold directly by the mint in rolls and small bags. 2001 saw some 40 million minted but the most since then was 7.3 million in 2005. I suppose the mint might toss any bags and rolls left unsold into circulation but they are still going to be very scarce there. For the past several years, only 3 to 4 million Kennedys have been minted each year, usually evenly split, but sometimes with a few more made in Philadelphia than Denver. I still wish the mint would sell at least rolls of nickels and dimes directly via the website. Since they stopped using circulation strikes in the uncirculated sets, those have been less than easy to come by in small quantity, high grade examples.

I am trying to catch your record of 1200+ silver halfs (;->) Those 6000 coins will take a while to go through, but I may order an additional 4 boxes on monday just because.

Getting to really like the self serve coin machine at the one bank I dump at, all except for the (frequent) chime that sounds when a bag gets filled... I dumped $1k each on 2 branches yesterday and wonder how they will feel next week with $3k plus another $2k on wednesday or thursday... I have silver coins pinging in my dang dreams.

I reckon I will just save them for now and see if I can accumulate a box of 40% 'rs (doable) and a box of 90% 'rs (pretty difficult, I would imagine). When we go on trips in the future I will try getting boxes/rolls in other cities and see how that goes.

With a ton of luck I will hit a lode like some of you have found. Having lots of time and a bit of cash to play with helps.

Be safe

I am sure there are a lot of other coin value webpages, but this one is pretty good and you can easily change the value from current to whatever and see what a silver content US coin will be worth at any given silver value.

6 box total for the week - 2 40's. Another rough week. I also picked up 840 in crw from a bank. They were all clad.

I have 4 boxes coming next week. Thinking about cutting back for a while. The skunks and dumping are getting old

Picked up $80 in halves today from a new bank.

They were in those nameless shotgun rolls with the gray ends and had been slit open lengthwise as a way of rim-searching for silver (probably by a bank employee)

Not going there again.

3 boxes (apparently they order from key bank - even though they aren't key bank)
box 1 - skunk
box 2 -- 2 90% 1964, 1 40%
box 3 -- 3 40%
1 2005

but that was about it

Opened a box today and was pleased with what I got, better than yesterdays results!

2 90% (both 64's)
1 40%

My bank lately has been ordering extra boxes of halves besides the ones I order, so I'm going back tomorrow for another two.

So... I'm new here. Got back into coin collecting a month or so ago. Picked up 9 customer rolls (180 coins):
40% - 18
90% - 1

Thought my luck was great, so off to buy 2 boxes from 2 different banks - (yes, 2000 coins) from a credit union and a major downtown bank with the following results:
0
... too much excitement and letdown for one week!

Nvest - sounds like you had a great score from those. I'd take that $90 in Customer wrap any day

Picked up a box of halves on Wednesday and got this:

45 40%
2 Franklins
2 1971-S
1 2004-S
And these NIFC:
8 2006
1 2003

Picked up another box today from my regular bank (BofA)and boy was it a disappointment!

No silver coins, period. However, I did find 3 200x NIFC and 1 1987-P.

Question, are the NIFC or impaired proof coins really worth saving? It doesn't seem that you can sell them for enough of a premium on ebay that after ebay/paypal fees to really make more than a few cents.

One other question. How do I tell if the 2004-S I found is silver? Weight?
