Stopped by the local Chase branch today and picked up $26.00 that the teller had in her drawer. Got (2) 64's, (1) 63 Frankin, and (1) 45 Liberty. My luck has certainly turned.

Nabbed (12) 40% today, at a bank that had already closed and locked the door, (I was only able to get in because a customer was leaving.)

One bank I JUST missed out on a mother load of goodies that had been shipped out recently. Teller said a few weeks ago an elderly man had dumped a large quantity of very old coins. He said there were "pennies that didn't have Lincoln on them", halves with the "guy before Kennedy", and some coins with "President Taft" on them. I can only imagine what coins he thought Taft, of all people, was on! The bittersweet part was when he pointed to the cameras and said that he wasn't allowed to buy coins for himself. Coulda had the whole treasure! Ahh... my misfortune will be someone else's lucky day though!

Twice I had tellers "hide" visibly good coins on me today alone!

Well I just finished 5 more boxes and the results were ok.
Box 1 - 1 franklin (my first) & 1 68
Box 2 - 1 1985 proof
Box 3 - 1 64, 1 68, 1 2010, 1 2003, 2 2004, 1 2008
Box 4 - 1 each 67, 68 69, 2010
Box 5 - 1 66, 4 68, 1 69

I have 6 more boxes on order for monday pickup. Tried another branch of my "dump" bank and was pleased to use the coin machine myself. Worked great. They charge 10% to non members, it would have been a $95 rip if you just walk in...

Sure hoping for the mother lode like some of you have been getting if for nothing better than bragging rights. The best roll so far has had 2 silver coins. I am not complaining and am patient. Have 1 full roll of 68's and closing in on another year.

Be safe and good hunting

Hit a drive up at a bank while out running errands this afternoon. They were thrilled to get rid of $100 of bank rolled halves. I was thrilled when I pulled 9 40%ers out of it!

I keep them (AU's or better), and I think everyone else should as well. They were minted in VERY low quantities (most years less than 2 million struck). They are bound to go up in value in the future, depending on the condition.

Tough week for me as well.

4 boxes contained 10 40%'ers 1 Panama Balboa something or other (same diameter and width as a Kennedy half--1979---don't know what the denomination is or what it's worth), and a 1980-S clad proof----

Stopped by a different Wells Fargo today and asked if they had any Kennedy's. They had $440 in the vault so I bought them all. Got skunked again on the silver side of things (these were searched/marked up) but picked up three more key dates and also low mintage 2004P, 2005P and 2006P. I'm thinking dimes boxes might be better for silver- statistically speaking. Plus, it only takes about two silver Roosevelts to equal the troy content in one 40% Kennedy half.

Stopped by another local bank on the way home yesterday. Picked up $50 worth. Plucked 14 40% out of there. Not Fed wrapped. Fed wrapped rolls for me over the months have been absolutely horrible with no or very little in it.

As for the NIFC's, I personally keep them if they are in good shape. I too feel there will be a premium for them in years to come, its just how long do you want to hold on to them. I'm 37 and figure my kids will be the one the ones to benefit from them, not me and I'm cool with that.

2 boxes await for me from Wells Fargo. Fed boxes, we will see what happens again...

Have a super weekend everyone...

Yes, keep all 2002- present for sure. The only wild card is that 50 years from now, these dates, although low in mintage, will still be plentiful by the BU roll I think, becuse they are only in BU bags and rolls and few circulate. Might actually have a VF 207P be worth more than a BU 2007P! Not really, but just saying that lower grades of 2002-present are hard to come by. 1950s BU Franklins are worth a premium, but still not huge amount, unless Full Bell Line designation.

Perhaps, over the next 20 years, some of these NIFC halves will end up in circulation in higher numbers as some collectors get fed up with waiting for them to take off. But with halves not getting circulation wear anymore, I still would predict 20 years from now that if you find a 2002-present half, it will be most likely in nice shape.
