16 boxes of halves...wow, I will not be surprised at all when the banks shut this kind of thing down.

The last 4 of 16 boxes are as follows:
Box 13 - 1 40%, 1 NIFC and 1 oddball coin
Box 14 - 13 40% including a really nice and not before seen 2000 silver coin.
Box 15 - 3 NIFC and 1 oddball
Box 16 - 1 40%, 1 NIFC
All in all a worthwhile haul but a LOT of searching. I got a blister on my trigger finger (going deer hunting this weekend and the first half of next week). I reckon that is a casualty of so much cutting, tearing and pushing the coins out of their snug, cylindrical homes. it seems that any box that has a NIFC in it that is over 2002 is pretty low in silver content. I think the whopper box had the newest coin as a 2001...

Yes, I did take some pix after I opened the box and after I had finished hunting and will try to post them later soon. I am doing the dump thing today.
Russ789: I do "spread the wealth" between several dump banks. I am going to try a couple new ones today to lessen the impact of a big dump.
TenSense: That is why I am making "hay while the sun shines".
Got at least 16 more coming next monday. Hope it is a comparable haul but you never know...

Patty, Please you hurt my heart.
I haven't gotten anyhting from a box for weeks, nothing. Some customer wrapped coins have yielded me some treats but not much. I would love to get a couple dozen silver in a box. What boxes are you getting? I get brinks.

Patty you said you are getting your boxes from BofA? Mine from BofA are different boxes than say Chase. They are the single deck (10x5) with the security holes? The other boxes I get are double decked (5x5) and have no security holes. I don't know which armored car service is which box...

I get the 10x5 from Wachovia(Wells Fargo), and I am pretty sure that is Brinks as the other coins I get there say Brinks on them. I found a new bank that gets the double decker box. I got one already and got shunked, again. I am getting another this weekend.

Usually the double decked boxes are from Brinks--and usually the single decked w/holes are from Loomis/Wells Fargo--I've had much better luck with the single deck boxes from Loomis/Wells Fargo---HOWEVER, if you haven't seen this box from Brinks!: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index....61512.0.htmlWOW, WOW, WOW!!! Well, just finished searching the 3 boxes I got yesterday. BLAH BLAH BLAH! No silver...just 2 NIFC. However, it looks like one box might have had an extra coin. I will see what the coin machine says when I am done. A new regional bank I am at has a $1,000 bag for me that arrived today.

The boxes are single stack with the holes. I went through ALOT of them before I got one with 10 or more and they are sporadic at best. The boxes and rolls say String and Son but I don't know if they are the processor...
I sussed out 3 more dump banks today and got rid of more than 9 boxes of "trash" coins. They are branches of the same bank I have been using to get rid of coins. I really like the self serve machine at one of them. I will get rid of the rest tomorrow or Monday when I get the next load (hope it should be spelled lode instead).

response to that huge dream box find:
it does seem like there just can't be more silver halves out there, right? I mean how many more can there be in the boxes?
anyone have any quantitative speculation to put up?

If I recall right there was someone on Tnet last year that got a box that was over 80% silver. I seem to remember he was from Florida. Those are the rare ones.

My best guess (as a wild estimate, based on my roll searching finds) would be something like 1/4 to 1/2 of 1% (.0025 to .005%) of silver halves left in circulation. Calculation is based on 10-20 silvers (90% and 40% combined) per 4000 coins searched----correct me if my math is wrong---- |
