So as I said earlier I picked up 3 boxes from 2 different banks yesterday. Got through about half of the halves last night. The last few hundred $ I was so annoyed that I just looked at the dates...didn't even care about mint marks unless the coin was super shiny. Just dumped a majority of them in a coin machine at Cap One and came up $2 short. Ugh! I hope the $1,000 bag I am picking up tomorrow is full of silver b/c the last 5 boxes I have gone through have been skunks!

If I recall right there was someone on Tnet last year that got a box that was over 80% silver. I seem to remember he was from Florida. Those are the rare ones.

Wow, now that's a treasure find! That means over EIGHT HUNDRED silvers in a single box. If you read the entire thread of the Brinks monster, it held EXACTLY 600 silvers---60%---and only 4 or 5 were 40%---the rest were 90%. That makes the box worth (at todays spot silver price) about $6,200.00 for the junk silver alone, not adding the numismatic value of the Walkers, Frankies and collector grade Kennedys. Many of those coins were key dates (in multiples), so the box was easily worth at least $15,000.00 to $20,000.00 in my estimation.

Not bad for a $500 investment----

I hope the guy didn't quickly sell them in the summer of '09 when silver IIRC was around $12-14/oz---if he held them till today, they will have (at least) doubled in value.

That'll keep you roll searching, eh?

After looking through $1,500 from Wells Fargo and not ONE lousy silver half I changed my strategy. I had my folks pick up a few Kennedy rolls on their way through Vegas and the rest is history! My first half roll hunt success story - a single 1967 40% from a casino roll! Maybe my luck will turn around as long as I stay away from Wells Fargo.

Yeah, my box 2 weeks ago I pulled 45-40% and 2 Franklins. It totaled 7.3oz of silver! I have gone through 4 or 5 boxes since and nothing! I hope my luck is going to change b/c dumping halves w/ no reward stinks! The success of those on this thread keeps me going! :)

I wish the bank would let me put a desk next to their coin machine. As I am searching I could just toss the coins into the machine. ;-)
