Quote: Quote: If I recall right there was someone on Tnet last year that got a box that was over 80% silver. I seem to remember he was from Florida. Those are the rare ones.
Wow, now that's a treasure find! That means over EIGHT HUNDRED silvers in a single box. If you read the entire thread of the Brinks monster, it held EXACTLY 600 silvers---60%---and only 4 or 5 were 40%---the rest were 90%. That makes the box worth (at todays spot silver price) about $6,200.00 for the junk silver alone, not adding the numismatic value of the Walkers, Frankies and collector grade Kennedys. Many of those coins were key dates (in multiples), so the box was easily worth at least $15,000.00 to $20,000.00 in my estimation.
Not bad for a $500 investment----
I hope the guy didn't quickly sell them in the summer of '09 when silver IIRC was around $12-14/oz---if he held them till today, they will have (at least) doubled in value.
That'll keep you roll searching, eh? Just found the thread. It was in Ohio at the end of last year. Check this out. 89.4% silver in one box. Was mainly 40%ers but still f-ing amazing. Box #6 Clad 106 90% 4 40% 890 http://forum.treasurenet.com/index....91283.0.html

I searched 4 boxes last night. Found 2 90%'s (60p and 61p) and 4 40%'s. All but the 61' were found in the last box. Two more boxes are waiting at the bank - hopefully someone dumped a load of Ben Franklins and they are waiting in those two boxes...

Drove all over creation today looking for halves, by 4:30 I had found 3 40%ers. My second to last stop I bought $240 and found this: '65 - 12 '66 - 16 '67 - 41 '68 - 34 '69 - 21 Total 124
That really turned my day around!

Got two boxes today and got completely skunked. Pulled 5 NIFC's and that was it. Not even an impaired proof or anything to hold me over.

6 box total for the week - 13 silver.
90% - 3 (58, 60 and 61) 40% - 10
Most of these came from the last three boxes. Hopefully, the skunk box dry spell is breaking. Also, I had a bank manager tell me the coin deposits have picked up lately. Christmas is coming and people are exchanging to buy gifts I would bet.

Got $50 yesterday. There were two long $20 CWRs (haven't seen those before!) and a regular one. Skunked with the $20 long rolls but pulled 2 40% from the $10.

I had an absolutely AMAZING day on the half dollar hunt. I know I've been railing on Wells Fargo as of late - but I decided to give it one more shot after multiple "skunkings". Stopped by a local branch and asked what they had in the vault - they said $450.00 in Kennedy's - I said great - I'll take them all. These were all String and Son (yellow wrappers - not quite a full box) Here was the result:
2 - 1964-Ds 2 - 1965s 1 - 1966 2 - 1967s 2 - 1968-Ds Not intended for circulation: 2- 2002 -Ps 1 - 2003-D
SUCCESS at last! Thanks to those who encouraged me not to give up!
