As for the impaired proofs, it truley depends on the date. An xf 97s will go for much more than a low ms 71s will.

Last week I bough 20.50 worth of halves from a bank tellers' coin tray and there were two 1967's, three 1968-D's and one 1969-D. Grade wise they were all XF/AU coins. A couple of weeks ago out of 7 halves sitting in another coin tray at a different branch yielded a 1968-D and the 10 bank wrapped rolls I ordered this past Tuesday from the credit union yielded no silver coins of any type. I'm just beginning to order wrapped rolls as the bank only has in stock what the customers bring in. I am filling the Whitman folders and as of today I am missing the following issues, 1964 P&D, 1965, 1966, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1981-P, 1982 P&D, 1984-P, 1985 P&D, 1986-P, 1987 P&D, 1988-P, 1989-P, 1990-P, 1991-P, 1992-P, 1993-P, 1994-P, 1996-P, and 2001-P. I have not seen anything dated after 2001. Being in California would explain the scarcity of the P mint coins.

Picked up 3 boxes yesterday from 2 different banks. Got one Franklin. Today, picked up 4 boxes from another bank and have gone through about half of it so far and haven't found anything. Ugh...now I have to dump it all!

Question...for those who use coins machines...what is the most you have ever dumped at one time? I spoke to the teller @ Capital One and she said their coin machines hold $3000. Who knows if that is correct or not.

Russ, what type of machine is it? I use coinstar machines provided by my credit union and they may infact hold that much. All the coin denominations go into large boxes at the bottom of the machine. It holds two of these boxes. Other machines around me use bags to hold the coins and the half bag maxes at $1k. I have heard of other machines which only hold $500 or $100 but never $3k.

Yeah, these aren't "coinstar" machines. They're not as high but definitely good sized. I do know they hold more than $1K b/c I dumped $1100 in halves yesterday.

Maybe it holds multiple bags? I dont think any bags will take more than $1k. If they do, thats some monster bag. Would hate to have to unload it when it fills up.

Picked up $20.50 today and scored 2 40%. In terms of raw numbers of silver, I am lower this year than last due to not having as much time to drive around to banks. But, my % of silver 40% was 1.4% last year and is 1.8% this year, only marginally lower % silver.

Happy hunting!

2 boxes of halves today yielded 0 silvers and 3 NIFC's. I finally decided to start assembling an album of circulated halves a month or two ago and I got 3 more holes filled in my album today, so it's not a total skunk.

Deltron, you have a positive attitude! That's great - I'm the same way - I don't consider it to be a "skunking" just because I don't pull any silver coins out of a roll. If I am pulling NIFC's or coins I need for my album then it is a success. Now if I pulled NO silvers and NO NIFC's, then I would consider that a true "skunking".

i just did six more of the string and sons and got nothing.

has anyone gotten the bank of america boxes that are like double stacked brinks ones? they're stacked flat like the string and sons, first, and then there's a second row of either 15 or 16 (i forget) rolls layed on their sides above the first layer.

i was thinking of ordering some more of those, but I got totally skunked on those so I don't know.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, on Wednesday I got in 3 boxes from 2 different banks. Found 1 Franklin. Yesterday, got in 4 boxes from a regional bank...ZILCH, NADA, NOTHING! Got in 2 boxes from BofA and found 1-1964 Kennedy. Seems the silver Gods have not been kind this week. Oh, today I took $1800 to dump in the Capital One coin machine. Machine got messed up twice and shorted me $9. The bank said they would get back to me after the bin has been counted by Brinks. Next week I am cutting my boxes back...hope it's a better week!
