The nearest UMB is 180 miles north of me.

No 1970 coins.

Picked up a machine wrapped roll and 3 loose coins at my dump bank. I heard silver clank in the loose ones so I knew I at least found something. Turns out the 3 loose halves were hiding a 1967 and there was a replated 1966 in the roll too. I figured the roll was a dud, but I guess I got lucky!

My other dump bank told me about the teller who bought a $500 bill off a customer for face. Lucky guy.

Shavill...check your local yellow pages for coin shops in your area. I go to a coin shop that has been there for a longtime and the guys are all great there and always give good prices.

also as far as selling silver
there are jewelry places, pawn shops and stuff all over the place
I suppose you could shop you stuff around and see what everyone will give you
also coin shops around your area might pay for it

I had some time to burn after work today so I stopped by the bank. I always bring in a Kennedy half dollar because many of the tellers give you the "deer in the headlights" look when you mention halves. When it was my turn, I requested a full box, and the teller sarcastically tells me "you WON'T find any old ones in there". It was like she didn't want me to order them - to try to get me outta there in a hurry. They get kinda peeved anyway when they have to pull someone from the line (with a supervisor) to go to the vault and there are like 20 people waiting. Here are the results from one $500 box:

1964 - 1
1964D - 1
1967 - 3
1969D - 1
NO NIFC's present

Guess there were some "old ones" in there after all.......
