the bank where I pick up from is also the bank my father uses for his business The head teller told him to tell me that he has half dollars for me I don't know if he ordered some for me or if they are customer wrapped I thought he wasn't gonna order stuff because he told me he was getting so much stuff in from people rolling change. He had over 9 thousand dollars in rolled change I haven't had a chance to go this week and get coins due to my work schedule but monday I'm gonna go down on my lunch break if I have to and see what he has. Until then. Happy hunting

Last week's results: 2 Brinks boxes: skunk. About $20 loose from tellers: skunk. $110 in CWR's: a 1967. The $110 came from a small town bank. At the other bank, the teller told me that another teller who was at lunch had $70 in halves. So I sorted the $110 and waited. When the teller returned, I bought 7 rolls of halves. They were in two different types of wrappers, neither of which I had seen before. Best of all, on several of them an older (judging by the handwriting) man had written his name and the word "Keep". This is encouraging. Perhaps someone had rolled his collection. Here is a photo of one. I opened them up. It was a collection. Seven rolls of circulated Bicentennial halves.

I did three boxes early last summer. First box yielded three AU '64s, a '78 and '82 proof, an '87, and a small smattering of 40%ers. Second box had two 40%ers, a '99-D that was probably broken from a mint set, and a small assortment of '02-06 coins. Third box was a complete skunk.
It's been about a year now, so I am going to throw my head back into the ring this coming friday. Hopefully I'll strike some sort of luck!

Wow you really lucked out on these rare collectibles...You should find out who the man is and see if he'd be game to purchase more unique coins. Or maybe the dump means he came to his senses.
Anyway ~2hr CRH and ~100 bucks = 2 1968 and 2 1967. I'm too lazy to check but those are the approx dates.

Three boxes from this week, all skunk. Did get about 15 dollars worth of coins with ~1-2mm holes drilled above kennedy's head. Hope those go through the machine. Stupid brinks scammers.

Last week I did $125 worth and got absolutely nothing. However on Saturday I picked up $70 in halves and got 4 Frankies, 4 Walking, 18 1964s, 12 40%. Is that good? ;P

I found three customer wrapped rolls while visiting family out of state, and there were a bunch of P&D pairs, so I assume it was a dumped collection - though no silver. There was an '87-P&D pair (two hole-fillers for my book) and some other NIFC.

At camp some kid had a 1968D he was going around showing everybody. Of course he had no idea what it was worth but said his dad told him it was "rare" and to keep it. I took this as a challenge and decided to get it from him, which I did for $3 Took some convincing though!

And who says it doesn't pay to be a camp counselor?

Camp counselor should have told a child the value of the coin. Not fair to get a silver coin from a child ho knows only part Of the story. I just don't think its right or on the side of God like signature implies

Lighten up. First of all, my post was a joke.
Second, I seriously doubt that the poster was a counselor. There is nothing in his post to indicate that was the case. If he was, then of course he was wrong. Nobody needs any religious advice in order to understand that it is wrong for an adult to take advantage of a kid.

@penman I am glad to hear your post was a joke - but it is very hard to tell in email/postings etc. the intention behind what is being said. I, too, had thought you were serious. As far as there being nothing in the original post to indicate he was the counselor: Quote: At camp some kid had a 1968D he was going around showing everybody. Of course he had no idea what it was worth but said his dad told him it was "rare" and to keep it. I took this as a challenge and decided to get it from him, which I did for $3 Took some convincing though! Please look at the personal pronoun "I" in the sentences "I took it as a challenge," and "... which I did for $3..." The posting appears to have been a firsthand experience. Angel2004 has the right idea. I used to run a rather large summer camp. The actions of my counselors was a reflection on the camp as a whole. Counselors are there to better and benefit the children entrusted to them by the parents. Another point to make is that this situation is the derivation of the old saying "taking candy from a baby." Being a teacher for years, I see this situation as helping a child become untrustworthy of people who are meant to help them. Moral implications here go quite a ways. Even on the lightest side of things, what a shame to hear about a potential young coin collector being given a bad exposure to this hobby. PLEASE understand, I am NOT saying rachums is some evil, baby killing, Hitler! I don't think he probably took the time to totally think through the ramifications of the situation (he said he took it as a challenge). I was not in the circumstance and therefore cannot make a valid judgement. Who knows, maybe the kid was a braggart and deserved to be taught a lesson? However, the outcome (and method - even if the kid needed a lesson) was not a favorable one for anyone. And I also realize that we all do find ourselves having done things we later question - its part of us as humans. "Religious" or not, morality is right. America was founded on these principles (and they did take them from the Bible!) - this is why our coins initially, and still have the motto, "In God We Trust." Since our founding, look how far embracing this mindset brought the US as compared to any other nation in history. Whether a person wants to believe in God or religion does not change this fact.
