I went through my second box a few days ago. Not that good this time. The good finds:
1 40% JFK 1 1989 S (in pretty terrible shape)
That was it. I was on a pretty good streak when helping others with their boxes, but I am not having a lot of luck myself...yet.

Will someone enlighten me as to what the acronym NIFC stands for?
Thanks,
Mark

I have read this entire post and I have just signed up as a new member and wanted to share my roll findings of half dollars from boxes and customer rolls since Nov. 2008 104 JFK 64s 6 Franklins 1 Walker 484 40%ers also a handful of NIFC 2003S 2001S 1981S 2002D and some others I haven't recorded all of my details of the 6 months but some of the neatest things were: -the walking liberty I found was in the same roll with a franklin and everything else in the roll was 70s and 80s -I have found as many as 6 rolls of solid 40%ers at one time -2 solid rolls of 64s at one time -I also found a 1970D (I'm assuming this one is somewhat difficult to come by can anyone comment on this?) All in all I've gone through thousands of halves not sure how many. Seems as though they are drying up a bit now. Also one of my dump banks last week (which I have an account with) told me they would have to begin charging me 7cents a roll to take my coins, I can give more detail on this later. Anyway I've got 3 boxes coming this week from a different bank and I will post my findings afterwards, please leave any comments for me. Thanks

Don, I haven't posted on this thread for awhile, mainly because I am going through a horrible luck streak! BUT, I know things will turn around, so I keep plugging away with my usual 2-4 boxes per week plus customer rolls. Congratulations on your finds; continued good luck!

Don, That sure is a pile of silver in 6 months. Congrats! The reason it is probably drying up is, YOU GOT ALL OF THEM! There are getting few and far between here as well, but I keep trying. Also, if you are a good customer at your bank and you want to keep doing this, try telling them there are other banks that will order and take back your coins to keep you happy. I went through this a few months back, and after moving some business elsewhere, they became more accommodating. The second bank is a hundred times more friendly, and they go out of there way to help. I usually try to take some bank to a third bank, so I don't contaminate the pool. Good luck.

Use coin bags to deposit your coins. No need to roll and wrap. Most banks require you know how much is in them, and will "correct" your deposit after it's counted...you can usually mix the bag as well, depending on your bank. I usually dump the leftovers of two nickel boxes into one of these bags. Also, they will only "correct" your deposit if it's off by more than $1...and sometimes, not even for that small amount. Just ask your bank for these coin bags.

How many rolls are in a box? I don't know as I've only searched rolls.

Picked up a box of halves from my chase the other day and it was in a square cardboard box marked 500$ halves on all 4 sides. Stacked 2 high with 25 on each level. they were in brinks wrappers. I kind of thought it was unusual has anyone else had one of these boxes? and how did you do?

I've been roll hunting pennies and nickels for a while, but I picked up my first $200 in halves from the bank today only to find out that some "nice" person had recently deposited 20 rolls of 1976 Bicentenials and had written it on the outside of all the rolls. I didn't even get the joy of searching through them! I am now the proud owner of 0 silver and 400 Bicentenials. I responded by doubling down and calling the bank and ordering a $500 box.

Starman- When I get boxes, thoughs are the kind I usually get. Today I picked up 3 boxes, 2 of the cube shaped Brinks boxes, like starman described. And I got the third box at a different bank today and it was the first time I got the flat box with yellow printing and the holes in the top. I assume this one is a fed box. Anyway that box yeilded one 68 JFK and that was it. The one Brinks box the exact same thing, one 1968 40%er. And the other Brinks box didn't yeild any quantity either- but to my amazment I got a 1912 barber half, no mint mark(so I guess its a P) Its slightly worn but all in all pretty nice, I don't know anything about grading. Before I even saw what it was I looked at the edge of it still in the middle of the stacked roll, just the way the edge looked I thought this has to a Franklin or a Walker. Then I fipped it over and for about a second I wasn't sure what it was. Really great! -I ordered 3 more boxes for next week. I guess I'll put some dancing fruit in here

Don; You don't hear of the Barber's showing up very often. Nice score.

I probably won't get anymore until my boxes come in next week.
I'll post them afterwards.
