I have been saving the NIFC halves that I find, don't know if I will ever get a roll of one date/mint, but seem to see a lot of 2001, many in bad shape so I just put them back in the mix. Anyone else saving the NIFC's and what is the future look like for these...are they worth the effort and time? (haven't found any 2011 or 2012 yet)

I wonder what happened to that person (StarLight?) who wanted to search like 50 boxes at once?!

Yeah, never seen her post for quite sometime. If I remember correctly, the bank didn't get her all 50+ boxes......only two I guess. Imagine a bank with a vault that can hold 50+ boxes......

Just went through 2 boxes this week. 1x 1969D. I had been discussing CRH with the teller, he asked me to bring him some silver halves to see. I did. I'm worried I'm giving away all the secrets :) Anyway, I'm going to start adding a box a week as time goes on. He's starting to CRH boxes of halves too. Maybe we can get some good finds together. Who knows.
What was annoying with these 2 boxes was that someone had painted the rims of about 10 or so coins white. When you crack open the roll, they look like silver... just for an instant. It was annoying. Anyone else?

So I'm in Austin for the next couple of days. Anyone from here? Any advice on what to do (besides check a few teller trays of course).

Looks like final count is going to be:
1 - 1964 2 - 196x 40% 5 - NIFC (2009 and mix of 2010 / 2011)
By the way, all silver came from the new designed boxes. I will see if I can ul a picture here. I am still learning quite a bit on my new (used) Canon 450D.

I bought my first 2 boxes of halfs went through a quarter of them and nothing so far. What does NIFC mean and should I search for other coins maybe key dates? And how can I tell if I'm looking at a proof

Not Issued/Intended for Circulation A modern proof will have mirrored fields, frosted devices, sharp strike, and squared rims.

Good luck to all hunting this weekend, will post back with next weeks early boxes.

brbpab The NIFC coins - as jbuck said - were Not Intended For Circulation and cover the years from 2001 until present. Also, the 1987 JFKs were NIFC. The 40% silver 1970D is considered to be a key of the set. Although the price in these is down and I have to wonder if this might not be b/c the present production numbers of these coins is half of what the 70D mintage was. Here is a list of other things to look for: http://www.ngccoin.com/VPSubCategor...ie-varietiesPersonally, I have quit looking for he 71D DDO b/c I easily found a roll of them after just 8 boxes - these are going back into circulation. I have gotten one 73D DDO, and one 1967 DDO. And I am itching to get at my next boxes!
