Here's one of the beauties I found in this week's 3 boxes:

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

They were nice mixed boxes, not obvious dumps. Will post full results later.

Okay, which one of you wiseguys went in and snared my box of halves this week? The head teller was quite embarrased to find my box was given out to someone else. Please tell me you got skunked. I don't want to be hearing about Franklins, Walkers, 90%ers, 40%ers or even NIFCs.

Ah well... the bank is very good to me, and we laughed it off since we had never heard of anyone else coming in and asking for a box at that branch.

I told them it was no problem, as long as it never happens again!

As for coins in the reject slots during coin dumps, I find lots of foreign stuff which I use for trading. As for US coins, I've started to actually track how much more I've received than I've put into the machines, since I dump the US stuff back in again (or give it to the teller for deposit). In the last six boxes, I'm up $106.17.

To me, you really have no choice. Half dollars regularly get stuck in there, and if you've been shorted then you know there's a clog in the rejects. I get someone to open up the machine and often, lots of stuff often pours out. I've counted out my halves before dumping them (usually in $80 batches) so at the end I know if it counted correctly.

halfhunter, wow nice walker!! unfortunately my luck went from bad to worse - bank called me told me they had 3 boxes so I was excited until I saw they had the same box number on all 3 boxes - I took them anyway and my feeling was right all along in all the yrs I've been searching half dollars these 3 boxes were the worst I ever saw - mostly all the rolls at 19 in them I called them and told them if you ever get boxes with those same 4 numbers send them back not only is my nothing streak at 6 I lost money with these boxes extremely dissapointing

MOnks:

*I had 4 boxes this week with "5964" stamped on them and 4 plain.

I think these are numbered for internal quality control checks by String & Son?

A few of these rolls also had 19 but a couple also had 21 so it kinda evened out.

*One of my monster boxes ( from 2 years ago) had over 100 pieces of silver in it and had #5047 stamped on it.

* These are all String & Son, Harrisburg PA boxes.

Total for the week: 13

*11 @ 40% and 2 @ 90%

I found a total of 5 from the 4 boxes with the number on them and 8 from the plain boxs.

*1 was a real nice 1976 S Silver Clad Bi Cenn.

BernieZ, it looks like you are having a good time!

I have gone through 1130 72P halves in the last 10 boxes - probably meaning around 2600 total (I was not counting the first 10 boxes), and have not gotten one.

The Cherry Picker's Guide makes the 72 look weak compared to the 73 and 74.

Gentle reminder from the staff: Please keep trade requests, no matter how innocuous, in the buy/sell/trade forum. Thank you!

Earle42:

I've found a good # of the 1972P 1 DO-001.

Just found another one last week, unfortunately I've sold them all on ebay.

An excellent pick-up point for this coin is the right leg of the R in Trust is strongly doubled as is the upper part of the U
I always key in on these 2 areas on all 72P'S!

Pic of the area below from one of the 72P's.

If I find anymore, I'll definitely keep you in mind.

The 72P (IMHO) is a real nice DDO and just as valuable if not more so than the more popular 74D.

Chuck.

Some good finds.

Sorry about the luck monks, you and chuckster must be talking about loomis supplied boxes, the yellow flat boxes are used by garda and loomis, I think the difference is the color wrappers, my yellow flats never have numbers on them, but have black and white rolls, iv never seen the yellow and white rolls here and we only have garda no loomis around here.

We do have dunbar but iv only seen them at gas stations doing pick ups, I would like to find a dunbar supplied bank to try and order from, if they even do banks around here.

Wow Chuckster - thanks for the great pic and for keeping me in mind. I am surprised to see this looks as good as the 74D - the pic in my Vol. 4 Cherry Pickers must not be a good one.

Earle42:
your Welcome.

I have the Vol #5 Second Edition- 2012, and the pics (pg320) are decent for this DDO.

Halfhunter:
Nope, the carrier is GARDA from the banks that I order and the boxes are String & Son with yellow and white wrappers.

I practically never see the black and white wrappers.
In over 2&1/2 years I think I had black & white wrappers and also a golden brown wrapper box maybe a total of 3 times.
