Thanks Silverdollar, and thanks everyone on the Benny. I put it in a 2x2. I can't bring myself to even put it in my Dansco! It's definitely the nicest pre-Kennedy half I've ever found in the wild.

Had the day and night free so picked up a box of quarters, plus $100 loose rolls and $40 in nickels. No silver or proofs but a couple hole fillers.

I think a bit of perseverance may pay out in the long run here. I may need to approach 20 banks or so, and offer to open an account, before I find one which will help me out on halves.

Seems like I am going to have to tread lightly seeing there is someone dumping small amounts at a number of banks. I hope I will not encounter negativity from the tellers because of the other dumper. I am not sure who he or she is, but I have a feeling I will likely find out as I increase my presence and expand my search for halves seeing how my once great bank no longer is such.

Just wanted to say hello again to the Kennedy searching group. It has been since April that I have been away. Due to no fault of my own, I was in a car wreck in April and had to suspend my coin hunting while I was recuperating. Bought my first brand new car in years and it only lasted 2 weeks! It was totalled along with the other car that hit me twice. I hope everyone remembers to wear their seatbelts. My car crumpled around me so the worst of it was spending the next few months constantly at the chiropractor's office for relief. So, no coin carrying for a long while now. I can still walk thankfully but my neck still suffers, along with my shoulders.

I love seeing what everyone is still finding and posting. A few weeks ago I received a silver dime in my change from CVS in Garner, NC. The color of the metal gave it away before I actually realized what it was. Something that small had me grinning from ear to ear!

It is still difficult for me to lift much so I am not sure when I will be able to get into searching the bank boxes again. However, I will whenever it is possible again.

I found a dateless wellworn Standing Liberty quarter at a Pawn shop and bought it on the off chance that it might contain a good date. If not, I am still happy with it just because it is so old.

Hope you take every moment you can to spend with family, drive safely and watch out for the maniacs on the road.

1StarLight,

Sorry to hear about your accident, and I hope you continue to get better. Why in the world were you hit twice by the other car?

As for searching coins, you could take someone you trust with you to the bank and have them carry the coins for you. Just an idea.

Glad to see you back. It seems most of the others here are from everywhere but NC. Good to see a fellow Carolinian in our mists again.

Starlight,

Sorry about your accident, I know how you feel I am a disabled combat Vet and I'm only 24. It takes a while with some hard work and due diligence to work your way back but you can do it. Remember we are all family here at CCF and we thank you for sharing your story with us. You should start hunting again not because you like it but because if it makes you happy it can really help you on the road to recovery.

1960 Benjamin half dazzling condition. The pics don't really do it justice; it's so clean and beautiful. Best condition silver I ever found.
Beautiful!

Thank you all for your kind words. I do appreciate them.

Ken, the reason I was hit twice is because of the way I was hit. I was hit from behind (first hit) and then swung back into the same car (second hit) that hit me due to the angle of the first hit and the speed.

I am hoping to get started again in December with help from a few friends.

My dad was in two wrecks in August which totalled his first 2004 pickup and then the next 2004 he bought was totalled two weeks later. He is ok but still banged up and recovering from all the bruises and a few stitches.

Glad we don't live in the same area......lol
