JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

I myself do not do boxes, the people at my bank give me a hard time about it. Seems to me that every other meas of getting half dollars lately have been dumps. I've tried like 50 banks in the past two weeks with a big fat ZERO!! Hopefully my luck will change.

2 boxes today, 3 40%'ers and a '64. 3 banks didn't get my orders this week for various reasons... there goes 12 boxes.

Ken, I have a motto... "I'll take them all." I've had tellers tell me crap was gone through and I've pulled solid rolls of 40% silver halves. Always take everything.

So after reading the forum I decided to jump into the Kennedy fray (partially motivated by my recent trip to the JFK Library in Boston).

So I went to my bank yesterday and ordered a box. I also told them if they have any extras I would love to have them and they were very nice and called me today about two bags they had. I went in to pick them up and was worried when I found they were sealed bags from the mint labeled 2001 p-d and 2006p-d. Has anyone else ever gotten these? Does that mean all I have is 2001 and 2006 with no shot at anything else? Should I just return them to another bank or are they worth opening? Thanks for the advice.

Those $100.00 bags were sold by the US Mint, they sold for $139.95. Each bag has 100 P mint and 100 D mint. The 2012
bag is currently still available.

The 2001 are also NIFC, but they made so many of them they are not that hard to find. In fact I release any I find back into the wild.

The 2006 pieces are a different story. I find one every now and then. If you don't sell them as a bag for a premium, they might be worth passing on to the grandchildren some day b/c of low mintage.

In comparison, the lowest mintage of a circulating JFK was 2,100,000 for the 70D (remember it was 40% silver though also).



Although I'll never see it, I have a feeling the 100th of JFKs assassination might bring a surge in interest in this series. You grandchildren would thank you

I received a call last night from my bank Manager telling me they forgot to order my 2 boxes of halves. I told her this actually works out really good for me because I re-injured my back and I didn't think I would be able to carry the boxes. I told her not to worry about. She then told me that she found $100 in Ikes if I was interested? Of course I was interested. When I stopped into the bank today to get the Ikes, she informed me there was actually 10 rolls, $200, instead and she found a box of halves in the vault also. Needless to say, I took the all. I was going to open the box and make 2 trips to the car with the halves. The Manager would not let me carry the box or and she carried them to my car for me. It was a little embarrassing to have her carry them for me but she never allowed them to get on my side of the window. I need to get some candy and deliver it to her on Monday.

I edged searched the Ikes first.


This knocked me off my chair.




I know nothing about Morgans so I called my Brother first. I'll show it to him tomorrow. Now to search the box of halves.
