As spring is attempting to take hold here in Chicago and summer is not that far away, I was wondering what humidity you keep your coins at to ensure they remain in the condition you purchased them in?

I have put most of my collection in 2 gallon zip lock bags with a desiccant pack in each bag as well as desiccant bags in the safe where they are stored. When the desiccant packs indicate humidity levels approaching 30%, I recharge or replace them.

My procedure is different but it's the same general idea.

Relative humidity never above 60% and make sure that there is no major temperature fluctuations. I do keep mine in the basement but always have a dehumidifier running during the humid months. I also keep an Eva-Dry dehumidifier inside my display cabinet. I've had some coins for over 20 years now without any issues.

If you live in a desert, it is much less of a problem. :))
