Went to Chase today to withdraw some money my dad has sent me. While I was waiting I saw the teller's coin tray and saw a bunch of half dollars. I asked how many she had and she told me $13.50. I pulled out some cash and traded with her. I ended up with $13.50 in half dollars and 11 dollars in Ikes.

Sorted through and got 3 1964 halves! Also got 13 40% halves too!!

Quite a score to me. I work at 5/3 Bank as a teller and I still haven't found any silver certificates or silver coins

Nice coins! Congrats on the score. I have never seen a tellers tray before.

Always surprises me there are still tellers that have no clue what they could have themselves, well in most cases.

Of course the tellers keep them, why wouldn't they? I don't understand the people on here who get mad at tellers for keeping silver coins. Any of you would if you were tellers.

I am a teller myself, and I keep all the silver I come across, which unfortunately isn't much. I've been a teller about a year and a half, and have come across 2 War Nickels, 2 silver rosies, 4 silver canadian quarters, and 5 40% JFK halves. So not even one silver coin a month.

If the teller asks me what I do with the coins,

I say I use them for poker games...

Nice! Anytime one can pull silver out of circulation this day and age, it is a great find. It also keeps the rest of the hobbyists going.

Nice score! My wife has been in banking for years, and sometimes brings home good finds. She says on occasion the other tellers keep the 90% halves, because the local jeweler will pay them $2 ea.!

I've made offers to pay more, but "I'm not a licensed dealer".
