On Jan. 1st 2002, twelve of the fifteen nations in the European Union merged their economies and gave up their old coins and bills for new ones.

If that ever happened in North America, Canada, U.S.A. Mexico.
Would it make us stronger economically

And do you think it could happen

Hmmm... I'm *sure* this was discussed at some point in the last few months- I remember responding.

Ah, yes... here it is: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...PIC_ID=19398

Also, search for "Amero" and you'll come up with some additional threads.

BTW, I'd be all for it as long as our money didn't have royalty and/or presidents on it.

Interesting thought. I can't visualize how this scenario would play out in Mexico, but if the current CAD:USD parity is any indication, one currency might not be in Canada's favor in terms of tourism or the US doing business there. Then, there's the whole question of where the central bank resides, and who controls it. Knowing how our Fed bank caves to Wall St. interests, a central bank here would be pulling strings at Canada's and Mexico's expense. I'm sure they would somehow loosen money rates for the US and somehow tighten them elsewhere--or otherwise rip people off. The only way a central bank would work is possibly a third party location that's under equal management/scrutiny by Mexico, Canada, and the US.
