My boss is looking to purchase 60,000 Canadian pennies as part of a joke between he and his brother. We're in the US and I can't seem to find anywhere online where I can do this.
I know their penny has been discontinued, but is there anywhere I can buy that many pennies in one or a few transactions?

but are available for more then what they are actually worth. You cant buy a penny box on ebay for face value, . You will always end up paying more and if your boss does that he will loose money over the whole thing. Maybe a member on here has 24 boxes of pennies they can sell to you at face value and even if they did you would need to get to 50 quality posts before such a thing so I'm stumped.

Welcome to CCF..I'm sure there are many here that would love to hear what kind of joke your going to pull. If you can find $600 worth of Canadian penny's in the USA, that would be cheaper then trying to get them here at way more than face value in Canada.

60,000 pennies = 180,000 grams more or less. 180 kilos. Better use UPS!!

Seems like an elaborate prank, could you not use US pennies? I guess this may be a Canadian person the prank is being played on maybe?
Freight from Canada to the USA for boxes of coins is not cheap, unless you are located in a border state and could cross the border and purchase locally I don't think this is happening.

@..Normic67 Quote: Maybe a member on here has 24 boxes of pennies they can sell to you at face value... Where would anyone get 24 boxes of Canada cents from? The banks aren't giving any more out unless someone would have that many kicking around and then shipping to the U.S. would be like hundreds.

Your heirs won't be impressed at your large penny collection when you pass. They will say "why couldn't these coins be gold or silver?" "We can't even get the bank to take them"

hahah that's not a collection.. it's a hoard.. and to be brutally honest... I don't care what happens to my stuff when I'm dead... I will be dead! I'm more concerned with the time I do have.. and what I do with it..

As far as I know, only a Federal Reserve bank in the US can exchange foreign money for US$$. I would call one of them (most major cities have one) and see if they have any. I would imagine that businesses have to use the Fed Res for all the foreign stuff that they get.
