Hi guys, you may have seen this from my album show off thread but I'm curious as to the experts opinions on grade and value? Please include 2 values, one as it is with the woody effect and one as if it didnt have the wood grain. Aside from asking for grade and value of this coin I'm trying to understand how much of a premium the wood adds. Thanks

G obverse and a F/VF reverse!
As a buyer, I don't mind the wood grain on your coin. Does not distract from the coin. Sometimes, "woody" toning does distract though.

Depends. Kind of like any toning - depends on the seller! :)
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, in regards to toning.
Same for true mint set toning.

Ya I kinda figured that was the case if I was right. Looks like I'm sitting pretty then with mine because I think it's a very attractive pattern and being an 09s vdb there can't be that many out there with this kind of wood. So I'm assuming with all this the premium can't be quantified until it's offered then? Any guesses though

I don't think that there is a real premium for a woody 1909 s vdb. The main reason someone is buying a 1909s vdb is because it is a 1909s vdb, not a woody. Beautiful coin non the less.

Yes, I agree with SSK I would think most people would buy a 09S VDB because it is an 09S VDB regardless if it is a 'woody' or not. Nice reverse on this one with the obverse being about G6 and the reverse F15 I would net grade it VG-8

Well thanks guys, I guess it only really bumps common years then? I'm just trying to nail this woody thing down and how it applies to the marketability.

Not a woody, the striations are from a cleaning. At this level of wear the coin should be fully brown.

Yep, as soon as I saw it I knew it was a harsh cleaning.

A Good Obverse with an old cleaning. Still it's a 09-s VDB so it will sell to someone for sure. Value will depend on the buyer.

Thanks everyone. Personally I love the colors and pattern. To me it is has tremendous eye appeal for the grade. If you had 10 of this grade lined up I would probably.pick this one. Even if they were all slabbed righteous and this was details. But that's what this game we play is all about at its most fundamental level isn't it There may be a a couple more with a woody touch. I'll post em when I get some time
