I picked this out of circulation recently, and as I am no expert on errors I would like someone to confirm or deny my suspicion that it is a Greaser. Everything appears normal except for the fact that the last date digit is missing, causing the date to appear as '200-D'. There are some tiny marks visible in hand that suggest a '4'. Sorry for the poor photos, taken with a phone camera.

It looks like a struck through error. (grease) What does the edge of the coin look like?

The edge appears normal, but here's a photo anyway.

Are coins' edges usually affected by strike-throughs? By the way, this is my first error find besides two clips on Lincolns ('54-S & '56-D from a bag), a 1917 DDO from an album and a 43/2-P War Nickel. Any estimate on the coin's worth?

I can't answer your first question.
As for the second question....I think it's not worth much, if anything, above face. The greasers that I see for sale have larger areas affected. Having written that...it's still possible to get a premium for it if you find the right customer.
Mostly, these are a lot more fun to find than they are to buy.

I plan on keeping it, but not selling. Just a fun find.

Edges are usually unaffected by grease. The vertical reeding of the collar allows grease an easy exit at top and bottom.

All right. Worthless my clipped planchets, but hey, it's still an error. Thanks for all the input.

This was kind of common when the first 2000 once came out. I used to kid people saying the Mint just ran out of room for all those 0's so they just left one out. I think I've got about 10 of those. For some reason this happened a lot with Dimes in the early 2000's.

Nickels were also Struck Through Grease a lot in 2000. Not sure if other coins were affected like this for that year.
