It seems a lot of times when someone posts a circulation find a lot of people say throw it on ebay.

Well I think more times than not it doesn't always end well.

For example:

2009-A $100 *Star* Federal Reserve Note *Free S/H After 1st Item*

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-A-100-...50470354?ru=http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html%3F_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=331550470354&_rdc=1&nma=true&si=juiJh9qK1yZS%252FzG0fcBFDrFwKrc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

The-Old-

Sold for $103.

Shipping $1.95.

ebay charges a $1 Xday auction fee for coins and collectable auctions (but not other categories ) but at least the "insertion fee" is free. But int he old days it was a 35¢ insertion fee and no "Xday auction" fee.

10% final value fee, 3% Paypal fee plus 35¢ transaction fee, plus actual postage.

I'm sure someone LOST money on this deal and it wasn't the buyer.

So before anyone decides to listen to some of the "I'd throw it on ebay" replies I recommend you do your research.

I had 15 sequential $100 star notes when and posted them here and got more than a few "I'd throw them on ebay" but decided to just spend them.

Your profit may vary.

Yeah, but he's making it up in volume!

Sometimes people will list things like this just to pad their feedback and seller ratings. Or it could just be one that didn't work out. You win some and you lose some when it comes to ebay.

I lost .98¢ last time I sold a star note $100.00, this seller has a store so is probably paying less than you quote, but nope he didn't make anything. I remember dealers junk boxes at ANA shows selling SBA's for .95¢ they would not sell more than one and really encouraged kids, not adults to go through the boxes of coins in 2x2s. More a marketing thing to get the younger collectors a deal.

ebay is a very dangerous place for those who think they can run a profitable business!

Worthless items bring worthless prices.

If the note had been a true repeater it would have had some interest from the serial number collectors and would have sold for more money.

He's lucky it was even bidded on!
