Hello everyone, A member of these forums who I met through ebay suggested I check out this site after we exchanged a few messages about bullion, world currency, differences in the US and European coin markets, and lots of other fun stuff. I move back-and-forth regularly between the US and Germany for work- and marriage-related reasons (wife is an alien...at least in the US ;]) and so I've found myself building two parallel investment collections to hedge my bet depending upon which continent I find myself at a given time. Thanks to the web, and trustworthy friends and family, I'm able to manage both collections from wherever I may find myself. It's also fun this way since I end up collecting cons in one market that I might not otherwise collect in the other. I'm an ESL/EFL instructor by trade, and teach German as well, i.e. I don't make the big bucks. Still, I do what I can and have been fortunate to have stumbled across some excellent deals over the years. Mainly, I'll likely have questions about selling, since although I pay attention to which bullion performs best in each country based on what I can afford, I've never really sold anything yet. Now I'm in a position where I can do so, but sometimes am not sure if I should have this or that coin graded first, or should hold onto certain coins that were a decent investment, but need more time before they are worth putting out on the market. I'll also be sharing some of my mistakes to those just starting out. I do not claim to be an expert, despite being opinionated at times. Really it just comes down to having collected coins since childhood, and liking bullion and collectible coins as a form of investment. I collect more non-US coins than anything, and don't really collect banknotes. Mostly bullion, but some historical US and world coins as well. Looking forward from learning from the community, and hope I have something to contribute now and again as well. Thanks!

Sorry to delay, but thanks again to all of you for the warm welcome! Unfortunately haven't had time to look at, let alone talk about, coins of late. Will soon though! Oh, in the event someone can point me in the right direction, though I have a few sellers on ebay I work with, some are actually in these forums, which is how I learned about them, but I nearly had a run-in with an outfit that was cleaning (and doing a very bad job of it) coins and sending them off to be graded by organizations that don't adhere to even the layman G-VF type system most use for ungraded coins, and the grading company wasn't using ANA standards at all. I only caught it when I noticed that the seller was advertising that it was "proof like" and it wasn't even close. I was just looking for a decent Mercury dime on the cheap (will look here more often since I'm sure the community takes people to task for over-advertising the quality of a coin since there are enough people here with a clue). I saw the :proof like" bit after placing a bid, and though I wasn't able to retract, I got the seller to cancel after threatening to open a case, refusing to pay, and explaining that I am no expert, but I can tell the difference between MS**, MS**PL, and PR**. Since there's a wealth of knowledge here I've yet to even begin to tap into, I was simply curious if anyone, the community, had compiled a list of sellers to avoid when buying from outside CCF members. I'll be sure to look, too, but I haven't been able to check in for the last several days due to total lack of time, and it looks like it will be another week or so before I'm able to get a bit more involved. If there isn't such a list, I'll just hunt around for your stories of online coin purchases Thanks again, everyone! Glad to meet all of you!
