I bought this coin in 2002 and am trying to improve my photos of it. Based on these new images how would you call the grade? It's a certified piece in an old small ANACS holder.

Brownie points if you ID the Overton variety. It should be easy since the main marker is extremely obvious.

Really torn on the grade, XF-45 to AU Details, I really cannot tell if it is just that weak of a strike, will look forward to other opinions and the ANACS Grade...

but should be late die state Overton 120a Pointed 6

Nice coin!
I am leaning toward AU50 with regards to detail, and some luster is apparent around the periphery. What I have trouble with is the toning. Difficult to judge from the photo.

I believe this variety used to be called the 'Broken Patch on Shield' ?
This variety was one of the first DBHDs I bought for my collection - it turned out to have some damaged that I overlooked.

Fascinating coin!!

ebay has 3 other O-120a 1806 DBHs for sale, for comparison. They all have the Cud noted here but in varying degrees.

The O-120a reverse die cracks and the Pointed 6 with Stem through Claw on the reverse narrows the Overton down fairly quickly.
