Trout.....sad. Reality is that PCGS is only about PCGS and the giant amount of revenue they generate.

This is just getting worse and worse by the day I just received my paid invoices for 3 submissions, I have been charged the extra $5 per coin for the "Secure" option (Which I requested) and yet 2 out of the 3 submissions are listed to be housed in a "Standard" holders and NO images at all have been supplied for these 62 coins. That's $310 I have been billed for a service they did NOT provide and yet still billed me for it. What on Earth is going on with this Mob?

I have 3 more submissions at PCGS awaiting grading, One of which has been there since 6/11/15 and still hasn't been done yet. If this "Malarkey" continues I will be "Dumping" PCGS and will send my coins to NGC in future.

IMHO that is a move that should have happened years ago. At least you get treated with a little dignity and respect at both NGC and ANACS . Good luck Trout.

I have a Membership with NGC But there is a "perception" by Australian collectors that NGC graded coins are over graded by 1 point compared to PCGS slabs. I have used NGC a few times and have never had any dramas with the company. The first problems I had with PCGS started about a year or so ago with their shoddy "Secure" images where sometimes the coin wasn't even in the shot. They have been getting steadily worse ever since then. They DO produce a good product and they DO grade accurately , It's just the rest of the service they provide that they really need to "Lift their Game" with.

I have found that PCGS's customer support is very much inferior to NGC's. When I use the "Contact us" form on NGC, I usually get an answer a day or two later. I have used PCGS's several times and the have never once contacted me back. Am I doing this wrong? Should I be sending them a direct email or calling them?

This is ridiculous. This much disregard for a paying client (and from the looks of it you do pay them quite a bit of grading fees) is ridiculous. I think PCGS has gotten a superiority complex, their rising favour in the coin market due to accurate grading and better looking holders (IMO and agreed upon by most dealers I've talked to) is soon to fade away if they keep this up. Although I suppose nothing will change until a few of their top submitters step up to the plate, which will likely not happen since they give them preferential treatment to keep their business.

Maybe you should try to send them to Paris when they have their paris grading week... I dont Think they charge extra for it, but they fly in a crew from the US, and do the whole thing in four Days, then ship them out. I plan on going next year sometime and combine it with a short vacation.
The next Paris grading week is Sep 10 to Sep 14.
Or if you send it to Paris using their normal service, they speed up the grading in the US so they can send them all back in one shipment to their Paris office and then deliver it from there.
Worth giving it a try maybe? Maybe their Hong Kong Office works the same way?

I received an email from PCGS. They are having problems keeping up with the trueview images. Maybe I will get mine at some stage I will just have to wait and see.

I've quit dealing with PCGS the customer service is non existent, the new holders aren't that nice, and their pricing is outrageous. Though I still buy coins in their holders, it's the coin NOT the TPG to me, and generally I don't need a slab telling me what I already know anyways. But this thread really hits home just how bad they have gotten. trout1105 you are a good man, may the karma gods smile down upon you!

Yeah, it says Trout is a glutton for punishment. PCGS do, unfortunately, enjoy the reputation they do in the market. They do not deserve to any more, and have been actively working against that reputation for the last few years. Anecdotally (that being the individual hundreds of examples a month I'm seeing here at CCF) it seems to me that NGC has been more consistent and closer to the mark for quite a while now. If only NGC could learn how to get a label right....

Quote: Yeah, it says Trout is a glutton for punishment. Not really Dave, If NGC slabs were treated as the same as PCGS slabs in Australia I would Get all my coins graded at NGC in a heartbeat. The problem is that there is a perception in Australia that coins in NGC slabs are over graded by 1 point against the same graded coin in a PCGS slab. So at the moment I don't Choose PCGS because they offer the best service ( which they most certainly don't)I do it because of this perception
