Franklin halves - always 90%, wear not a big issue, good size, reasonable premium, nice to get good 1948-9's Washington quarters - not hard to find in AU/BU, nice (though very familiar) design Canadian 80% halves - buy near melt, nice looking, good size Australian pre 1946 florins - buy near melt, sterling, nice looking, good size Peace dollars -often cheaper and better grade than Morgans, just as good design (less historical though)

Out of all the coins listed I prefer franklins. They just look thick and feel good in tour hand.

Non US-replier here... 1. Swedish 80% silver 1 krona coins Oscar II - Nice-looking (old timey feel w/ coat of arms), old (1875-1907), still legal tender/current size, cheap, can get for melt 2. Swedish 60% silver 50 öre coins Oscar II - Satisfying, old wreath-surrounded design, usually easy to get for melt, cheap 3. Washington quarter - cheap, medium sized coins and although no longer current, the design has been used for quite a while. 4. Swedish 40% silver 10 öre coins - tiny silver fractions. Very common to find here, comes in varying qualities and eye appeals. 5. Swedish 40 silver 2 kronor coins 1942-1966 - Large, still legal tender coins that are very easy to find in shops and in hoards. A lot of coins for not so much silver. More fun to have, along with 10 öre coins

I'm younger than the previous posters (I assume :)), so here's my list: 1. ATB 5oz bullion - changing designs every year, low premium & limited mintage. Quite a few have become numismatic over the years, so this is a no-brainer for me. 2. Kookaburra 1 oz bullion (same reason as 1.) 3. PM Lunar 1-10 oz bullion (same reason as 1.) That's it in all honesty. All other coins I buy are for fun, the above are stackers...

Silver Kennedy halves, Roosevelt dimes, and Washington quarters (anything I can get in roll hunting) and 2 oz Privateer "Pirate" coin (thank you Matttheriley). That is basically all I have for stacking. I get the PM Lunar series and Wedge Tailed Eagles but only for collecting since I have not the funds to stack at this time.

Peace dollars - love the design, and I can usually find decent ones fairly cheap Morgan dollars - same as above Mercury dimes - relatively inexpensive, nice design, easy to store 1 oz. Silver Rounds (various designs) - I really like to buy the replica rounds and ASEs $1 Gold Coins from the 1800s - I usually only buy ones at spot that are damaged in some way, but it is a cool way to stack gold for me because there is still the history there

I don't stack much, but mine are: ASE...It's a beautiful design, readily available, and it's your modern day silver dollar Morgan/Peace $...Only have a few of these, but I love the designs--esp. Peace--and they have an interesting history behind them. Kennedy Halves - 40% or 90%. Franklin Halves also, since I'm slowly working on a set of these. Canadian Silver Dollars...A nice, reliable design, and they can be had pretty cheaply. Roosevelt Dimes...A series I'm currently working on and they're easy and cheap to obtain, sometimes even from circulation.
Although I don't currently have any, I'm really interested in the replica rounds, especially the SLQ and Indian Head Half eagle ones.

Hcmusicguy, I like Canadian silver dollars too, I buy them when I can get a deal, but I have far more Canadian halves. Omxfl, you have good taste. Great coins, I go for the cheaper stuff though. Another coin I like a lot that I didn't put in my top 5: Australian 1966 50 cent coins - 80 % silver, kangaroo and emu or reverse, can be bought for melt. I may like them better than Washington quarters when it comes down to it. .999 silver is ok, but doesn't make my top 5. I like the Maple and Philharmonic as much as the ASE.
