You can edit your title, just hit the edit button on your first post.

As to your question that's what vamworld is all about however you unknowingly posed kind of a trick question because new vams are being found all the time so the "list" or number of known vams is not ever "complete" as of yet. I believe I've heard estimates of around 20-30 years before most if not all die marriages are found.

Now if your talking the 5 or so lists of major vams they can be found at vamworld as well

The official keeper of the VAM designations is Leroy Van Allen, and the most up to date repository for listings is through the Society of Silver Dollar Collectors (SSDC), the first place most VAM listings will be added is indeed http://www.vamworld.com

As Leroy gets up in age there are being plans made to have the SSDC become the next official attributors and authenticators of new VAM designations. I believe I remember something about this being discussed at the last winter FUN show at the SSDC meeting and posted over at the vamworld.com forums.

SuperDave, Dave700x and messydesk, are just a few of the extremely knowledgable VAM experts here, I try to help out with the 8TF when I see an unanswered post (I was a contributor to the 8TF VAM book Jeff Oxman and Les Harnett wrote, but I've not spent all that much time in the VAM forum as my tastes have changed to early coppers and books the past couple of years.

Thanks for that westcoin, I has no idea you were such a big vammer. That copper bug-bite must be a strong pull to drag you away from vamming. I have yet to sign up for SSDC but it's on my list.

Cascade - You haven't seen my VAM book list yet, I take it.

I've got just about every book on it I'm missing a few, or maybe I just can't locate where I put them.

They say eventually all numismatists in the US field of study eventually end up at the EAC end of things, I think that is a correct statement. If not coppers then John Reich stuff, but either way it's all the way back to the beginning. I've been collecting and studying U.S. coins for over 30 years now, and 20 of them pretty seriously or full time as work.

I've found the VAMs a great way to make money, I was there before the TOP 100 book came out (1995-1996) and really popularized VAM collecting, I made a bunch of money cherry-picking some really tough VAMs in the hay-day of vamming. Now I still enjoy the VAMs but lately I seem to enjoy the history and research that is available on the EAC and pre-federal coinage of America. I only wish, I could afford to collect more of these early bits of history. Today the prices are really getting out of sight; for example when the TOP 100 book came out a nice Fine + 1794 Large cent was around $25.00, today adding a zero to that might not get you one (a common Sheldon one at that!). At least VAMs are still easy to find and buy as there are so many Morgans and Peace dollars around and still relatively affordable, cherry picking them has gotten a little tougher at the big shows, but plenty easy still at the little shops and shows.

lovecoins,

You can also edit your posts for a time, if you need to change or add a comment. You seem to have several one line posts.
