I'm looking for a nice VF+ piece for my dansco, not sure if I want to be paying $800 give or take...but what do you guys think on this one?

What's that shine mark on the obverse?

The shine mark looks to be part of the copper composition of the planchet. Color of the whole coin looks a bit off though. I'd pass. Buying these key dates unslabbed is risky. Probably a reason this one is not in a slab.

The coin is absurdly overpriced. It's a $250 coin retail as a problem VF+ piece. Problem-free top tier certified XF+ pieces can be purchased for less, much less. Here's a PCGS XF45 that sold for $646 earlier this month: http://coins.ha.com/itm/lincoln-cen...Lot=1x=0&y=0
Here's a PCGS certified VF30 that's better than the ebay coin and it sold for $282 this year: http://coins.ha.com/itm/lincoln-cen...Lot=1x=0&y=0
Buy a certified VF+ piece for less than half the price of that ebay B-I-N.

It's not a bad EF coin but, whether it is worth $800 is another question.
Rest in Peace

Cleand, over priced coin. Just be glad that there isn't a VDB on the shoulder. I, personaly, would by a cleaned EF 1914 D from my dealer at $300

No question as to authenticity because of the die crack from Lincoln's lapel to the rim but value? Too much.

I see a lot of coins for this seller come across in my search and many / most of them look like suspect, problem raw coins priced as if they were problem free. As others have said, you could get a nice, certified VF or even XF for less. For this kind of money and for a coin faked as much as this one, I would either go certified or buy from a trusted source where you can see it in hand first.

The coin looks genuine to me, but I agree with the others that it is over priced.

Overpriced, for sure, but the obverse streak leaves me cold in any event. Pass!

I wouldn't touch that coin raw, especially since there are a few "altered" floating around with mint mark or date alterations. Especially not when you can get the same coin in TPG plastic for less money.

I always ask myself: why would such a nice, rare coin not be slabbed? Usually = a details coin to me. Also, LOL at the price. High XF money for a VF details coin.
