I have two free ANACS grades I need to send in by the 4th of july and I'm considering sending this 1857 Flying Eagle cent in. I liberated it from a whitman folder it had been sitting in for at least 65 years (there are also 3 1858's in the folder not nearly as nice as this). Anyone have an idea on what it might grade at? And also which snow variety it is if it is one?

My opinion is that there's an AU-55 Eagle hiding under an old cleaning, with what looks like a die crack at 8:00 obverse from the eagles' beak to the rim.
That is a gorgeous coin. They're rare in any grade, much less as nice as this.

EF45ish from me too, would not be shocked with AU details from anacs, seems like a great piece for VerdiCare if you have the time before the special runs out. Nice coin, one of my favorite designs

Well certainly 45 at worst, very possibly better. Not sure I agree that it's been cleaned, but agree with VerdiCare bath.

i am soaking it in acetone today, and will verdicare it tommorow. I' don't see any evidence of it being cleaned. The obverse is darker than the reverse, but that's not surprising to me since the reverse side has been hidden inside the whitman folder for 65+ years.

Wow, my 55 was way too high.
Learn something new at least every day here, if not every post :)
