Lamination error before strike. part of the lamination has been retained. too bad coin is not in better shape.

I think it's after strike. The design elements will still be there after a thin lamination comes off. Nice lam !

CoinCbass , you have the coin in hand. What about it makes you feel it delaminating before the strike. Also curious about the weight.
Thanks !

The five cents looks pretty clear, so I figured the lam had peeled off in that area prior to the strike. I am no expert though

And I know it can peel off after the strike and still show up

Pure conjecture on my part

CC , I no expert either but I was lucky enough to find a coin that split before it was struck. this cent is only half it's proper weight and still struck most of the fields up rather well. The high points of the design and rim show the lack of detail the most.
If your coin had laminated before the strike the lam area that it shows would have been one of the initial areas to fill in probably leaving weakness on the high points of the design.

Nice LAM after strike. I feel the peel headed south leaving the fold over bits after.

Note the "S" in states is fully struck under the fold. If it peeled prior to strike the "S" would have form on top of the fold, not to mention the folds probably would've been wiped out all together.

Remind you just a rookies thoughts. Thanks, Doug.

Probably because of the strike the FIVE CENTS was attached stronger. The areas around those devices peeled. So I feel this was a lamination issue after it was struck, not before.
