TOTALLY UNRELATED TO THE QUESTION THAT WAS ASKED.....

This letter is in response to your recent correspondence to the United
States Mint regarding your difficulties with the checkout procedure
while attempting to purchase the 2015 Coin & Chronicles Set - Dwight D.
Eisenhower.
Due to the much anticipated release of this product, we have now sold
through all available inventory, and the product is currently
unavailable for purchase. The main United States Mint web page,
www.usmint.gov, was down from 12:04 p.m. to 12:21 p.m. due to an issue
with a computer application unrelated to the launch of the 2015 Coin &
Chronicles Set - Dwight D. Eisenhower. This application issue did not
have an effect on any catalog pages, including the web page for the 2015
Coin & Chronicles Set - Dwight D. Eisenhower. Customers were still able
to order the 2015 Coin & Chronicles Set - Dwight D. Eisenhower, which
became Unavailable at 12:16 p.m., meaning the U.S. Mint is currently out
of this item, but more may be available later. If you would like to be
notified should the item become available again, please sign up for a
?Remind Me? email on our website at http://www.catalog.usmint.gov.

BTW, does everyone still have double charges on their CC? The mint insists this is normal.

Yes, two pending charges still on my CC. But the package has left Southaven, MS according to FedEx so I expect one of the charges to clear soon. I don't recall this being "normal" behavior but not sure I've ever paid so much attention to it.

I will just have to be happy having 5 truman sets and no ike sets.

Hold them until all this year's reverse proof dollars are out and then trade accordingly.

Got the shipping confirmation e-mail an hour after my last post yesterday.

I still have two pending charges on my account.

The FedEx tracking says it will be delivered next Wednesday, so I will probably see it on Monday.

As far as two charges on your credit/debit card...I have one charge that went through when my sets were shipped, which is how it happens whenever I order from the mint, but there is still one charge pending. My bank shows the date a pending charge will drop off, and it's due to drop on the 15th. As far as the mint insisting this is normal, no, it's not. Out of all the items I've ordered from the mint over the years, this is the first time I've had two charges appear for one order. I was told it's because the first time I tried to order but got booted off the site before completing the process, my order actually went through, so when I tried again and was able to finally get through the ordering process, it was a second order, which is why there were two pending charges. I don't buy it. If my first order went through, I doubt I would have been able to get a second order through. It would have said I had already ordered the limit and it wouldn't have gone through. I would have also gotten a confirmation for that first attempt, but never did. The two charges are part of the mint screw-up, but they won't admit it.

This is what the Mint released to Coin World:

Quote:
The set is scheduled to contain:

#10148; One Reverse Proof 2015-P John F. Kennedy Presidential dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The coin will only be available in the set, according to U.S. Mint officials. Instead of the standard Proof finish, where the raised devices are frosted against mirrored fields, the frosting and mirroring is reversed, with the devices polished to a mirror finish against laser-frosted fields.

#10148; One 1.595-inches (40.6 millimeter), .999 fine silver JFK Presidential medal struck without Mint mark at the Philadelphia Mint. The one troy ounce planchet is of the same specifications as the 1-ounce silver American Eagle. The medal replicates the Presidential medal the U.S. Mint originally issued in 1961. The obverse portrait of John F. Kennedy was designed and engraved by then U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Gilroy Roberts. The eagle reverse was designed and engraved by then Assistant U.S. Mint Engraver Frank Gasparro, who succeeded Roberts as chief engraver of the United States in 1964.

#10148; One 1964 JFK 5-cent postage stamp. The two-panel frame depicts, at the left, the Eternal Flame from President Kennedy's grave site at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. The right frame features a portrait based on a 1958 photograph of the future president taken by Los Angeles Times photographer William S. Murphy. The stamp was designed by a New York firm, Raymond Loewy/William Smith Inc., based on a sketch by Bureau of Engraving and Printing artist Robert L. Miller using Murphy's photograph. The final selection of the design was made by President Kennedy's widow, Jacqueline Kennedy. Printed from January to April 1964 by the BEP, the stamp was officially issued in Boston on May 29, 1964, what would have been President Kennedy's 47th birthday. The stamp is identified as Scott 1246 in the 2015 Scott Specialized Catalogue of United States Stamps and Covers.
