I have been watching the ebay auctions, it is curious sets are not selling higher.

While low $200 is a very good amount for these sets, I just thought
they would climb higher.

My daughter still has two sets to sell, she is counting on me to tell
her when the best time to list them is.

Anyone else watching the sell prices for these sets?

Seems the sets are lowering in price, possibly since so many people wanted to get in on this set just to sell them so there may be more on the Bay than the Truman? Haven't looked but also this may be just until a lot of these sets sell and get off the listings. Once they are gone in a month or two who knows where they will end up? I should have done a presale with mine like the Truman would have gotten the $250 they were selling for. But who knows?

I am and yes some seem to still be going for around $250 but starting to sell around 200 now as well. My guess is the stupid lower hh limit is to blame. The number of ike sets relative to trumans is something like 3x more listing so the market is FLOODED with them right now. If it were me, I'd wait a few weeks +/- to list mine when supplies are lower and 70 grades start coming out. There should be less supply and more demand with 70 lottery buyers imho

Reno, I agree with corey. If those were mine they'd be in the submition pile for sure as they look like solid 69s at least from your pics

Be happy! Looks like you got good set relative to the others were seeing.

GR58, I've been watching these prices and I think the longer you hold onto them, the better. These things, in the very short future to release, are never really predictable with prices. Generally though, after people start coming out with graded examples, I think you will see a general slight increase in price for these sets. I think at the conclusion of these sets, after Reagan in 2016, you'll see another slight increase and then periodic increases over time until it settles, in my opinion, in the $300 - $500 range.

I think you'll eventually run into a situation where people want to complete a set (whether C&C, RP, Presidential dollar) and there simply will not be enough of these sets to go around and the price will continually gradually rise. In the short term, all the flippers are out trying to make a quick buck.

So, if you can swing it, I'd hold onto these as long as possible. If that's not the case, I would wait until at least graded examples started coming out and wait for a $220 mark or so. That's just me know and what I've been seeing with the Truman and Ike sets.

I know I the newbie in the group but I think the best time to sell is now. The longer you wait the demand decreases because everybody already got them now, nobody is looking for them anymore. Let's face it, there aren't many coin collectors in the World like 20+ years ago.

1) Disagree, if they were at stupid flip prices I would agree but they are not. Probably a better time to be buying than selling

2) Disagree, collectors will want the complete RP set and these two are the keys. No reason for the Ike's to sell for less than the Truman's other than present availability which will wind down very soon...The Kennedy will be more affordable and stimulate the need to get the rest.

There are presently 37 raw sets for sale vs. 272 Ike's....both of these will continue to drop but the Ike will survive the present glut....

There just are NOT that many sets out there....

IMHO....

I stated this in the Truman thread as well, I think in 20 years people will wonder why we didn't buy as many as we could when they sold for $200 each.

I'm not speaking of 20 years in to the future.
I'm talking about now till end of this year or so. I don't see these going up in price to a point it's a big difference.
We will what happens soon.

Well after much anticipation, they finally came this morning. I do have to say I am a lot more pleased with what I received than what I got with the Liberty High Relief coin a few weeks ago. One set is definitely being sent off for grading. The ones I took pics of is the one I'm keeping which I think would grade less than the other. I'm leaving the "to-be-graded one alone for now, but here's some pics of the one I'm keeping. I saw a spec on the top of the reverse, but on careful look, it looks more like a piece of the fuzz that the coin sits in than a flaw.

Prices will spike in late november and early december, Christmas drives demand and the supply will have petered out to nothing.

I see these 17k mintage sets settling in the $200 range. As a good comparison, take a look at the 1997 Botanic Garden Coinage and Currency set that had a 25k mintage and includes the 1997-P matte proof Jefferson nickel. It seems to be selling in the $150 range on ebay.

The second set of photos look better, but the first set was not that bad all things considered.
