Well - that's it - my poor Kodak seems to have kicked the bucket - it refuses to write to the SD card.

Plan on doing homework later and seeing if there is a fix though. So I borrowed a camera for a few fast pics of this 1966 bank roll. Wrapper first...:

They now reside in an airtight storage tube.

These rolls have been getting busted up a lot but I believe it will still be a long time before original rolls are scarce. Many were destroyed in 1980 and again 2008 to present for their silver content. Many more have been busted up looking for Gems and varieties.

I'm usually inclined to open them. The '66 usually isn't a very good roll because of worn and weak strikes and marking. They do come nice but not often.

I see you opened it now.

It looks like a nice roll.

@Buddy - thanks for the laugh

@Cladking
Actually I did look at these and some are nice strikes. There were no major DDOs though

OK - I am not sure if this needs a new thread or what, but I need help with actually determining if a coin is MS.
Even the glossary here on our beloved website just lists MS+number. The lowest being:

Quote:
MS-60
This is for "Mint State" (the grade) and "60" (the numerical designation of that grade). This is the lowest of the eleven Mint State grades that range from MS60 through MS70. An MS60 coin will usually exhibit the maximum number of marks and/or hairlines. The luster may range from poor to full, but is usually on the "poor" side. Eye appeal is usually minimal.

When I was actually into grading coins, we were still using EF, BU etc. I would call almost all of these BU since some are blinding "white" with original mint luster.

But I am not sure this means MS. It also is hard for me to tell if some of the areas I think are wear are actually wear or just a high point on the coin that is not as bright as the rest. I recenlty watched the PCGS webinars from youtube and one covered MS grading. But a youtube video is not like having a coin in hand.

Can someone school me in MS-101?

You can post one (or a few) of them in the grading thread to get more opinions on that aspect, or keep that question in this thread for a while. No problem either way.

I would open them up and if you want to save the entire roll put them in a coin container for coins. Pure and Simple I would say.

@Hollywood
I am trying to learn about vrieyies. I do not see a reference to a WDDO-022 on Variety Vista or the Conceca links. Can you tell me what you are referring to and where to find it listed?

Thank you - so the W in WDDOO-022 stands for Wexler. Learn something new every day.

Obviously I knew very little about these attribution numbers. I see UVC and DMR numbers also listed on Coneca and have no idea what they are.

Go here at the Variety Vista website to find master listings of DDOs at Variety Vista and Coneca.

Unfortunately the hobby is not far enough along on these that there are pics of all the different types. There are lists with descriptions though. Some are in circulation andsome are only in the Special Mint Sets (SMS).

If its from an SMS, then it will say so "SMS" and a number grade in the box. If its MS - then its circulation issue, if its PR, then its proof.

When I first bought the Cherry Picker's guide, I was only looking for the ones in the book b/c I did not know there were so many more. I have found some that are not on the lists but are minor enough I just let them it go. I figure if I need a microscope to see the error its just not worth it to me. And since its 9.00 to submit one, I'll let someone else have credit who would appreciate it.
