I never. I repeat I never find these. So this was a nice find I had to share. I was looking for DDO's but I won't complain on this one.

CWB I like your quote haha! Around here we say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Thanks you all for the props! I'm happy to say the least.

I'm not sure but there is something more going on than a simple off center . There is a extra "rim" line to the reverse south and the last letters of America are flowing over a bulge . This is not exactly something I'm truly familiar with but as I said there looks to be something more going on here.
Also the " bulge " on the edge is oriented in a different direction from the off center strike. Much more going on here.

I know what you are saying Stoneman but it is just a part of the error. Yes the extra lip is apparent but it is seen on other coins of this error. Perhaps a senior CCF member can explain why. *cough coop *cough help me out

Flat and that was a nice link coop! So the term is collar scar if I were to explain the circular impression that has been mentioned. Learned something new today :-)

So coop, on Mikes article, is this the beginning of a "splash" coin error if more than 1 coin became "fusued"?

On this coin it looks like it has a collar scar on the die that struck it. Quote:
Off Center Strike With Collar Scar PART VI. Striking Errors: Off Center Strikes: With Collar Scar
Definition: An off-center strike will often show a collar scar on the face struck by the anvil die. A collar scar is a semi-circular groove that lies lateral to the die-struck design and the location of the design rim. The collar scar is produced when the protruding portion of the off-center planchet is forced down upon the top of the collar by the descending hammer die. The strength and completeness of the collar scar varies considerably, and a significant fraction of off-center strikes show no collar scar at all. Still wondering why the rim is showing on this coin though?

Was the photo taken with the coin in a plastic holder? If so could you post new photos with the coin out of the holder?
