It was graded an E5 (cleaned).. so my question is besides the cleaning what actual condition is my coin in ? excellent? fair? or does non of that matter since its been cleaned?

Id like to thank you guys for your help and advice. this coin has had a remarkable journey I'm sure and its now only begun. Still cant believe that coin that I found sitting on a cluttered desk in a small yellow envelope turned out to be what it was. It probably sat there for years then sat in my basement for a few more years. this is why we exist. this is why we collect

Coins used to be net graded (and sometimes still are ) by certain TPG to their market value grade-wise "net" of the problem(s) at hand. For example: Suppose a coin has AU50 level of detail but has a harsh cleaning it might have been assigned a VF35 net grade.

Your coin (and better images would help) appears lightly cleaned and as such the net grade would be VF35 to me. Meaning it is worth the value of the same coin certified VF35 without any problems. I hope this helps a little and is not confusing. Bottom line is you have a very nice and quite valuable gold piece that most collectors would love to own.

I could go on but it's suffice to say if this piece were in a PCGS or NGC holder as an XF45 and problem-free it would be worth a lot more to many buyers. Perhaps double what it would likely bring now. At least you know it's genuine and worth every bit of $4,000 as-is. Keep it in a safe place.

Ii am not a fan of the value people will put on a slab. I personally do not know if a cleaned coin can be graded as "problem-free" so make sure you check into this before wasting money to "upgrade" a piece of plastic.
This is a fantastic coin, so enjoy the coin for what it is

I know that on occasion a coin with "light" cleaning issues can be certified as problem-free. Sometimes coins with obvious hairline scratches will still not be flagged by the grading service.

Maybe it's an offensive idea to some, but if your coin is not harshly cleaned it might be worth it financially to risk money on a re-submission to PCGS. You know it's authentic based on the ANACS certification and ANACS has sometimes been viewed as fussier about cleaning than PCGS. If PCGS were to give your coin a pass (maybe net-grade it as problem-free XF-40) you would likely double the potential resale value. Even if they give it the same XF-45 Details, Cleaned grade it might realize a higher selling price in PCGS plastic.

"Cleaning" encompasses a broad range of practices, from a momentary dip in dilute E-Z-Est coin cleaner to vigorous scrubbing with baking soda, toothpaste, or even scouring pads. It sometimes boils down to a judgment call on the part of the grader and if they decide the coin is not significantly impaired they will give it a righteous grade.

Only the buyer can decide whether a particular coin meets their personal standard of originality.
