This 1850 Braided Hair large cent also has a nice pedigree through PCGS. It is attributed on the holder as a Newcomb N-12.

How would you grade her, and why?

Going to have this one CAC'ed next year.


PCGS says MS63BN (ex Naftzger.) I wonder if this isn't a later die stage, because there is no sign of circulation wear, but less than a full strike.


I need to take some good pictures when I get it in hand as I suspect the seller's slab photos don't exactly get the job done.

Ted Naftzger did have amazing high grade coins, I can't say this one is all it's cracked up to be by PCGS< though I'd have to see it in hand to be sure.

guess a grade. it will be interesting to see your
