Hello, I am thinking of making an offer on this coin. It would be for my type set. My goal is AU or better. These are the sellers photos.

My main concern is the mark under lady liberty's eye. Does that look like a scratch? I zoomed in on the larger photo for a closer view. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your help.

It appears to be a very light scratch. Acceptable for most AU to BU+ Morgans unless you want to get into high grade certified coins. If it were a gash or deep scratch, they are not as desirable. A good rule, don't pay more than what you think you could sell it for. Make an offer if that is possible. If you send in to have certified, add that cost to what you want to pay. I never pay full market price for a coin unless I am desperate or down to the last several coins to complete a collection.
Rest in Peace

Pass on this one. There are much nicer AU examples out there and for a few dollars more many MS examples of this common date.

We're talking morgans here. There are litterally millions to chose from and for a type set morgan you want ms63-64 wich can be had for $40-60 on most common dates

I would pass on the coin. I paid $60 for this MS62 Blast white with a solid strike as the coin is common in the low MS grades.

Thank you for your opinion everyone. I was leaning towards passing but just wanted to hear the opinion of more experienced collectors. The main reason why I was considering this coin is because I believe this coin is a VAM 17B. I'll keeping looking for a better example.

Thanks again.
Rest in Peace

Yeah, it's a 17B but that is a common VAM although very busy and interesting. I've picked two from the wild in the past couple years.
