So on that 2014 Kennedy half silver collection, are the coins hard to bust out of the holders? I am considering purchasing one but I don't wanna potentially damage them trying to remove them from the holders.

I haven't tried to remove mine from the capsules but I don't see why it would be to hard. Just take your time and be careful.

Mine are still in their holders but I tried to bust out one the MOD dollars from one of my dime sets and it took me walking away several times before I got the point of grabbing a hammer and a pliers.

They are the typical mint capsules. It is probably more difficult pulling the capsules from the tight OGP holder (which I have only done once to view the reverse, they are very tight) than the coin from the capsules.

My set is still intact though, for what it is worth.

Better throw in my four bits on the halves: my set is extremely hard to open the capsules. I haven't done it yet. Then again, somebody mentioned they had trouble opening the capsule on their C&C Mohawk coin the other day, and I had no trouble with mine. I guess my point is that there is a lot of variation and you won't know until you try.

I would assume that the capsules would be like the normal mint capsules. In my set, the unc. half rattles around in it's capsule so you might want to break that one out first.

Jbuck, To view the reverses I had to get the coins out of the OGP with a small screwdriver. After I was finished viewing the reverses, I put them back in the OGP but I didn't push them in as far as they used to be. Now taking them out is not a problem.

I did open the capsule on the Denver, and that was only slightly difficult. Of course, I only opened it because I needed to see if a capsule I had could re-home the coin, since I had dropped the coin in its OGP capsule and cracked the plastic. Fortunately the coin is undamaged.

Yes, I had to use my wooden tool*. However, I pushed them back in securely because I did not think that far ahead.

(* I have no idea what the tool is called or for what it is originally created but one end is round and the other end is like a flat-head screwdriver.)

I will see what I can do.

Just imagine a six inch by one-quarter inch wood dowel with one end sanded down into a 15 degree wedge.

Sounds like a "tool" from the stone age.

I removed a number from their airtite capsules. Not difficult, but do it over a soft surface, just in case the coin pops out unexpectantly. (cannot spell that right! ) . I removed them so as to place them in my album, which does not hold airtites. They are typical airtites, a bit tight, but strong finger nails are all I used.

After reading this thread, I tried my set. I had to use a screwdriver to remove the capsules from the case, but I was able to open the 'D' capsule with just fingernails. I didn't want to mess up the others so I didn't try them, but I bet they are all the same.
