Nope. The seller simply appears to know nothing about coin valuation.

I wouldn't pay more than a few cents for that coin.

it is a legit varity. My bet is the seller found a price guide on line that listed this coin followed the line al the way to the right and read the price for BU or proof and decided that was what he had.

Spend some time looking through 18th and 19th century French bronze on ebay. A very high percentage of the coins are low grade coins with high end prices.

Certainly it looks like "bargain bin" fare to me, too. I did see that even with over 47 million struck, a mint state specimen might fetch half of what this seller's asking, but this example appears far from uncirculated.

Fingerprints and everything. Bargain bin for sure.

Tryna, I too have noticed that about French coins, mostly low end problem coins for ridiculous prices.

If you look at the seller's other items, all of his coins (mostly 20th century foreign stuff) are going for several hundred dollars.
