The one on the left is more aesthetically pleasing to me (photo was taken in poor lighting and doesn't capture the vividness of the toning), but other than the word LIBERTY I think one on the right looks to be in slightly better condition overall. Can I get some opinions from the experts as to which coin would grade higher? I'm still new to this, so I don't have great coins yet, but I want to be sure I'm keeping the right ones. Left! It has more of 'Liberty' showing. Plus, I can make out a few of the diamonds in the ribbon.

Well it looks to me like the one or the right is slightly nicer but if you like the one on the left then go with that one.
The whole point of this hobby is to collect coins that you like so stick with whichever one you like better

Now that I'm looking at the photos, I think the feathers on the left one look better too. I guess I can keep the pretty one after all.

I agree the one on the left is actually a much better coin .
and the toning is a plus IMO.

I wouldn't keep the one on the left. Nice details but with the sharp damage as well as possible artifical toning, I would keep the one on the right.

gxseries - the scratch on the letter T is damage, as well as the scratch beneath it, but the rim isn't nearly as bad as it looks in the photo. The rim is toned with a lot of gold and hot pink (can't tell colors from this photo) and I think a lot of what is appearing as damage is actually just color. The rim isn't perfect by any stretch, but it's smooth and not cut up looking in the slightest.

If I had to choose, I'd take the one on the right. The fields are the tiebreaker for me, whenever I face a choice like this one, and the right-hand coin looks to have much cleaner fields. For me, clean fields are worth a couple points of grade in terms of eye appeal. It's not like we're talking about the difference between MS64 and 65, or a conditional rarity.
I also have to confess to a little concern over the color, as gxseries mentions.

I say flip a coin.  I'm sorry, that was terrible. Seriously, keep the one that you like the best. Since you said that the rim damage on the left isn't as bad as it looks in the picture, I like that one. |

I like the detail on the obverse of the one on the left, but what's going on with the reverse? It looks like the rim is all dinged up & the right half of the wreath looks like it has problems. I also have to question the color on that one. Based on these pictures I'd keep the one on the right.

I missed something here. Is there some reason you can't keep them both? If they are already yours, keep them both. Very close to call but the one on the left appears to have more details overall. But again, why not keep them both. In most MS grades they both would be around $30 to $45 so why not keep them both? I suggest you get two Dansco or Whitman Albums and put them both in the Albums and start a dual collection of them. Or you could get one Whitman Album for those cents, purchase additional pages for Cents, put in the same Album in the back for duplicates. Keep the one you think is best in the front. So again why not keep both?

If you're "collecting" and can afford to keep both of them, keep both of them.
Also, while the detail might be better on the left one, there is more damage to the left one, too.
my opinion(s) only.
