I think this coin is outstanding for the grade, knowing what I do about classic head cents; let's see if you agree with PCGS on this one.

1814 Classic Head Large Cent. Seller pics (scratches on slab.) Cross 4, S-294 (most common variety, R1); decent color, fairly decent planchet.

Thanks for looking, as always.

**Grade added: PCGS VG08

Looks G06, just not enough detail for VG08, but wouldn't be surprised to see it in a VG08 holder.

As everyone knows, these are a hard coin to find, that are problem
free.

I think this is a nice coin, better than the one I have I. My 7070.

I think the reverse is a Fine, because of what detail I see on
Libert, I am leaning toward VG obverse

I would guess the grade at VG10, but I would not be suprised
if if got a Fine12 grade.

Of course when I see a nice coin, I lean towards the better.

I'm at VG10 but F12 would not at all surprised me.
This coin has outstanding eye appeal. Classic Head LC's are so hard to find original like this.
Congrats on a great find!

Nice problem free coin. Very difficult to find. The dentils are saying VF and the devices are saying G. Looks like a weakly struck coin. I'd net it at F12.

This is why I said it's a very nice coin for the grade:

1814-Classic-Head-Large-Cent,-Slabbed,-Grade-Added-PCGS

I can't see enough hair details to justify a full technical F12, but the eye appeal is amazing, especially if you compare it to other specimens in VG holders. I've been looking for one in this nice of a shape for awhile that wasn't overgraded or insanely overpriced, and this one fit the bill.

I agree with VG-8. It's really a textbook VG IMO.
