Do people stack silver other than investment or "teh apocalypse is coming". Do people stack silver just to collect and for fun?

Mostly for investment and/or a hedge against the collapse of world fiat currencies. Just look at what happened in Greece. Their economy collapsed and all banks closed down only allowing something like $600 to be withdrawn from atm's... now imagine how happy gold and silver stackers in Greece were/are relatively speaking during that crisis and even today!

Now, zombie apocalypse type synarios are debated. Some say a useless metal will still be useless and others say that it will be needed when things settle down and an established bartering system is put in place but most would rather have guns, ammo, food & shelter for immediate needs

Not counting my numismatic items, I have only a modest silver stash, the whole of which fits into a tupperware sandwich container (for now). I do it for the fun and enjoyment of it, and becuase it's pretty. And it's something nice to pass on to my children some day. I don't buy into the whole SHTF thing, although I do enjoy that it represents "real" money from a time gone by.

For fun! I just like that pearly white finish that all they have compared to the rather drab clad coins.

It is unrealistic to buy for the apocalypse. A communistic state will take place.

@SilverStackerKId
Which is why stackers also appreciate the freedom we have to protect ourselves by owning guns. Clyde Bundy scenario hopefully would kick into play.

If I had been smart enough to stack as a kid, my money from from the 70s would still have close to its original buying power.

Imagine... I used to wait for the special at K-mart when candy bars went on sale at ten for a buck (and that was even 10 years after silver was not issued). I don;t know - even as a kid it seemed a dollar was not too hard to get. A least easier than it seems to be for a kid to get the equivalent in today's money.

I don't stack as per se but over the years I have "accumulated " quite a lot of what I call scrap silver coins.
I sometimes get stuck with a cleaned or damaged coin via an ebay buy and I also every now and then buy the odd bulk lot to sift through.

I should sell it but never seem to get around to it and besides the grandmiscreants (and Myself) love to handle and play with these coins.

IF the spot price goes "Ballistic" (which I doubt will happen) I may part with these few Kg's But at the moment these old Silver coins are far too much fun to part with

I'm in two places on this, I like to hold some silver just to have. The other is a semi numi thing. Old silver has been interesting and I love to collect it. Been downsizing lately with plans to start purchasing proof Libertads in various sizes but I can't find anything with in reason.

Not sure why I do, pretty sure I am never doing enough.

If we are doing it for numismatics or investment or TEOTWAWKI

I think it really does not matter, because if we stack enough
we will have all reason covered.

If we do it for a lifetime, we might end up with a huge coin
collection and/or a big pile of wealth.
