Right now both are sold with about $3 premium( APMEX $2.99 and Provident $2.95).

Which one has a better prospect?

Neither, rounds are the way to go...

But if I had to pick, the ASE, it's just the design.

Which one has a better prospect of what?

They are both hunks of silver. The value will go up and down with the spot price. Anything more is speculative.

My personal opinion: low mintage is always a factor (how much of a factor is debatable).

2015 ASEs were minted at about 45 Million last year.

2015 Somalis far less. They are minted by the Bavarian State Mint and the last numbers I have are for 2013: only 130,000 BU coins. I don't think the numbers have dramatically increased (my opinion).

I buy both coins (BU as well as MS70 examples). But I like coins that are 1.) beautiful to look at (both meet that criteria); 2.) High production quality (both meet); and 3.) low mintage.

So given a choice (which I personally don't have to make one), I'd go with the Somali.

And there is even a rarer version of the BU Bullion Somali elephant coin: the 'privy seal' versions. Same coin, but the addition of a small privy seal of the lunar year animal. 2015 had only 3,000 of the Ram Privy coin minted. Costs more, but rarity is often a factor if the future.

The oldest question asked when it comes to what to collect. Depends what kind of collector you are, are you the type of stacker that collects for metal speculation and numismatic value willing to pay a premuim or are you just a metal speculator. I am the later, so my answer is a bit squad to paying less premuim for rounds because of the silver content. So if I was to choose between the two elephants or eagles, hands down eagles win even the high mintage 2015 eagle coins due to the ease of sale when that time comes. Everyone worth their salt when it comes to metal stacking knows what a silver eagle is. Now if you ask a Libertad collector they would choose Libertads and to h*ll with the premuim. Those cats are crazy. But to each his own. Recently with the GSR being as high as it is I traded 1/4 AGE for 2 - 10 silver bars. To me more ounces of the white metal the better.
