Got word that the United States Mint has just posted its best year of sales for the silver Eagle bullion coin since its release in 1986:

"American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin demand continues to increase throughout calendar year 2015 and remains on a record-setting pace. Today, the U.S. Mint broke the previous annual record of 44,006,000 ounces sold in 2014 with the current total now at 44,666,500 ounces sold. In addition, the U.S. Mint will not take final orders for 2015 American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins until December 14. This week's allocation is 920,500 ounces."

Not sure the 2015 issue will be worth much more than bullion for years to come since the market is flooded with these.

when I see these type articles and news pieces, I think to myself "wow there are a TON of people underwater with their silver and gold purchases, why did they buy so much silver and gold to lose money?"

But why?

I know the design is nice and all, but the premium is so dang high! Not a good stacking option, and no numismatic value.

Indeed. But ASEs are highly recognizable and reliable. You're paying for liquidity, to a certain degree.

Me, I would rather buy junk (as MichioKaku suggested) or the cheapest bullion I can get. I hope you all took advantage of JMB's Black Friday sale. I did on some bars at less than $0.80 over spot/oz.

I am pretty sure the people buying these ASE's, are not buying them as collector coins.

People with money are buying ASE's at record levels.
This years record broke last years record.

If people with a lot of money are buying these, and
your not ....

Maybe you should be asking yourself "why not"

as silver breaks and makes FRESH yearly lows in the overnight session as I type this, I ask myself again "why does the public enjoy buying and losing money on a declining asset?" *sighs*

oh well I hope they dont mind being underwater yet again...

One thing I am very sure of, is that silver ...in the future will trade higher
than it is today.

Another thing I am sure of, is that silver .. in the future will trade lower
than it is today.

There are some people that think they will not buy any silver until
it is at it's lowest price.

I think anyone who thinks they can say for sure what silver is selling
for a year into the future .... is only fooling themselves.

I have been buying silver when it was in the $30's and in the $20's
And even more in the teens. The lower it goes, the more volume
I will purchase.
